dazza Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 MOM Yesterday again. Im really looking forward to him taking his place in the midfield. Hopefully with a left back an experienced centre mid and a 20 goals a season striker we will win the league.
Sammario Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I am actually really looking to seeing this boy playing for us. Could be an absolutely tremendous signing When you walk through a storm Hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark
foobs the elder Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 How old is this lad, 20, 21 ? another promising novice, have we not got enough of these. The money spent on "Temps" would have been better spent on a proven midfielder, slightly over the hill, to get us over the hump. On saying this , I wish the lad well in his Morton career. Foobs
SramTon Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 As I watched McLaughlin (and latterly McLaren) waste another two-dozen set-pieces yesterday I was wondering what improvement there will be next season with Stevenson as our dead-ball expert. I know he takes everything from Alloa and I remember the cracking effort which led to Alloa's first goal in the 2nd match between us at the Recs last season, but I can't remember being particularly impressed with the delivery of his corners and such like. Anyone else got much recollection? We could really do with someone who can delivery a good ball into the box. Look at her riding pillions on Davy’s sea-bike, carrying an apoplectic macaw in a silver hoop. Oh, Morton, let’s go there this winter! Or learning the Japanese chinchona from that Kobe group, in a dress that looks like a blowtorch rising from one knee, and which should sell big in Texas. Morton, is that real fire? Happy, happy little girl!
Tonosaurus Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Stevenson is proven at this level, despite his young age. Whatever fee was involved would have been small, probably compensatory. I think he has the potential to supply the spark we need; but don't pile all the pressure on him, that is what ruined Temps. The Fire Breathing Morton Guy - I'm not Pat!
cornbeef Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I think you could class him as an 'exciting prospect' and I think we're really lucky to have landed him. Some times it works and sometimes not. We do need an old head to make us a more balanced and solid outfit. Call me the eternal optimist ( or sad erse) but I'm looking forward to the pre season already. PS Ian Clinging , make an appointment with yer GP for Monday, the medication needs 'upped' again. Show Racism the Red Card
Dr Zhivago Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I think you could class him as an 'exciting prospect' and I think we're really lucky to have landed him. Some times it works and sometimes not. PS Ian Clinging , make an appointment with yer GP for Monday, the medication needs 'upped' again. I'm hopeful that Stevenson will bring a bit of creativity to the team, but I am concerned that there will be too much pressure on him and he'll not cope with it. He's another youngster, when what we so obviously need are a few old-heads (that can still get about the park a bit... unlike Lilley and McLaren, both of whom have lost a lot of the pace that made them good players) to give the team a bit of steel.
ThornTON Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 More money wasted Real Mallorca wanted to keep this kid because he is that good, he just got home sick. He will be by far the best midfielder in division 2.
Muz Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Cant believe people writing the lad off before he's even got his boots aff yesterday. Will we NEVER learn? Good luck Jamie, looking forward to seeing you at Morton. I'm sure you'll do well.
Tooth & Nail Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Looking forward to seeing him next season. He is regularly scoring goals so should be a good signing for us. All the best to Jamie. DIVISION 2 LEAGUE WINNERS 06/07
TaunTon Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Aye all the best for next year Jamie, one small light in a long tunnel.
ian clinging Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Last time Stevenson played against Morton he was dreadful. Another "promising youngster" is not what we need.
hayfever Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 i'm sure he'll do well for us, esp as i assume he's not fulltime at the moment? what we're missing is an expeienced, physical presence in the centre of midfield. mclaughling and miller have done ok this season, we've not set the 2nd highest points tally in our history by accident, but i think peterhead out muscled us a bit yesterday, amongst other things, and it just got a bit desperate towards the end rather than applying proper pressure. however, it has to be said that any other season we would have been comfortably promoted and it would have been hailed as a successful season - lets not forget that What Carew can do with a ball, I can do with an orange
