Greenock Morton v Partick- League Opener

May as well get this on the go. Expect nothing from this one but the league season is back and all that! I would be keen to put Wilson back to CB for this one. Would be a miss in the middle of the park, however feel he would be more capable at the moment than Fairnie to nullify Partick forwards.

I haven't been keeping up with the tedious interviews but have we had any indication of what's up with Savoury and when he might be expected to play?

It would be good indeed to have some indication regarding Savoury and also Gorman. Gorman looked good in the little we have seen of him and Savoury if fit is a certain starter. These two along with our new keeper could make a huge difference to the size of the crowd, the performance of the team and the feelgood factor around Cappielow.

I was going to give this one a miss until my 6yo son, out of the blue, begged me to take him.  I have absolutely no expectations around this game, I just hope it doesn't put the lad off it for life

I'm actually glad I'm working this weekend and won't be able to make it. I don't think I have ever been this apathetic about a new season starting.

No idea who we’re going to play at right back. Depending on availability, I think Moore going there with Wilson at centre back might be our best option, which says it all about our chances in this one.

Doesn’t this imply we fielded an ineligible player for 2 league cup games? I think we’d know about this by now if it were true.

"Hearing" meaning "I read it on Pie & Bovril" in this case.

While we've had no shortage of off the field issues I find it extremely difficult to believe this Gorman story. He was obviously registered correctly with the SFA as Comet allowed us to pick him - the case where Edinburgh City managed to pick an ineligible player was a trialist, which Gorman wasn't - and without looking through every detail in the SFA Handbook, I'd be extremely surprised if it was possible to complete a foreign player's registration with the SFA without having the appropriate paperwork from the home office etc in place. This reeks of made up bullshit.

The club has a lot of issues right now, and I mean a lot. We could do without spreading nonsense on fan forums which only adds fuel to the fire. 
 

Get out and support the team on Saturday if you are sitting on the fence.

I'm going into Saturday trying to put everything that's going on to the back of my mind and just try and be as positive as possible. No point in being all doom and gloom, I'm glad the season is back. Hopefully we can get another player or 2 in to bolster the numbers, especially as Ballantyne is going to be out for a bit.

Can't make it this weekend but would be sticking £10 on Maryhill -2. Hopefully £10 you never see again but at least that would pay for a few pints.

That's probably exactly what will happen, seeing as it's a cup competition. They'll reduce it to 0 points and 0 goals.
