So bad. Cut the grass ffs - far too long. 

Can confidently say that Laiith Fairnie will be in prime contention for a place in the Worst XI of the Decade thread in a few years time. He’s going to struggle 10x worse when he’s up against proper Championship strikers. 

Going to be a hell of a long season and can’t see Murray making it to Christmas. Use the next three games as pre season to get fitness levels up as it’s so amateurish to go into competitive action having played one fucking friendly. I’d fancy Partick sticking 5/6 by us after that display and St Johnstone game could be a cricket score. 
 

The next signings need to be starting XI ready or else we’re doomed. 
 

Only positive was Kinnear looked pretty solid. Gorman had some nice touches and put a few good balls in but no creativity behind him.

We shouldn't have kept Murray at end of last season, we shouldn't have let him assemble a squad and we shouldn't let him manage a Championship game this season.

Not convinced by Kinnear - a couple of good saves but saves you'd expect most keepers to make. Seemed a bit scared to come off his line despite his size. 

Gorman was promising - few daft stepovers and things that might work at a lower level that he'll need to cut out his game but enough to show he'll at least not be one of the many Adam Coakley type figures we've have.

Kinnear maybe looked a bit slow with his footwork. Goalkeepers stepping up from part time football often do.

I had low expectations today but I was still unprepared for the mess of both Cappielow and our squad.  At least I now know not to waste my time on Tuesday travelling to Fife.

Linlithgow thoroughly deserved the win and were unlucky it was not a wider margin. They out thought and out fought us for most of the 90 minutes. We were a shambles and it looked as if our pre-season involved training for walking football. Defensively we were all at sea, our midfield hardly won a tackle and up front we looked as toothless as last season. Difficult to believe we were the full-time team. Once again we can write off a League Cup run. I just hope we do not get thumped in the remaining fixtures - it is a real possibility.

Without better signings things already look grim for the season ahead. The apathy in the club was shared by the sparse crowd who struggled to even find the anger to boo. From what I have been told I don't think Murray's after match comments in the Tele will help.

Wonder what utter pish Murray will come up with for the post match. 

Probably the whole good passages of play but just lacking a killer edge we need bodies in the door but tight budget only played one friendly usual shite he spouts. 

Not seen anything at all from him to convince me he will take us forward or even just keep us competitive.

1-0 totally flattered us -  Linlithgow Rose were superior in every department and should have won by more.

Ten years ago we were beating Killie away in this competition, now we are pretty much already out. I won't be going to any of the other group stage games. The St. Johnstone game could be fun.

And to cap that, our opponents for our first league game appear to be scoring for fun.

Has Murray or anyone from the club explained why we only played 1 friendly?

Nobody else in the Championship has played fewer than two, the vast majority have played 3.

What were they thinking?

Two years ago we lost 3-0 to East Fife in the opening match of this competition. We lost 2-0 to Clyde a couple of years before that, and drew against East Kilbride the year before that as well. I think most of us seen the possibility of this one coming.

They were thinking that they were struggling to put a team together. I think that's the bigger issue. Recruitment has obviously been a struggle.

One competive match in we really are an absolute shambles.

Flys in the face of the reflective statement put out at the end of the season about being together and doing better etc.

That defence shouldn’t be starting in the Championship, only Ballantyne would be making it for me. 

Laiith looks miles off it, Longridge will get ripped apart at LB and Moore will maybe be passable alongside an actual experienced centre half. 

Cochrane was definitely missed when he went off and as said before by others the pitch majorly needing cut, was at least praying for a touch of rain to try and give it some zip. 

Gorman absolutely has some value to add to the squad, some nice flashes and once he’s up to speed he will be fine. Could be doing with an early goal to get him off and running, building that confidence.

We are at least 4 starters away from being a reasonable team at this level.

I don't think it can be understated how bad that was. Totally embarrassing standard for a Championship team and we were actually outplayed for a lot of that game. 

It should actually give the 'ambishun' mob a shake. We didn't lose to 5th tier opposition, while barely laying a glove on them, because we lacked the ambition to do so. We lost because a combination of a crap manager and seemingly crap players managed to fuck up a game against such lowly opposition. 

The most concerning thing was how outplayed we were for much of that game. It wasn't a plucky, backs-to-the-wall job. LR definitely deserved to win which is not on from Murray's point of view. 

I think he should have left after the Ross County game at the end of last season, so Murray has no credit to play with. If he loses another couple of these league cup group games he should resign, or be sacked if he doesn't. We can't afford to persist with him.

I have said before the league cup is glorified friendlies but at same time it is usually an indication of how prepared you are for the season ahead.

Can't quite believe what I'm reading in the Tele. Is this a Poundland Mourinho attempt at deflecting criticism towards himself and protecting the young players in the squad? Or is it a guy who's not really arsed and is going to spend the next six months hiding behind a squad rebuild (famously we're the only team in Scotland to have this) and a low budget (same) before getting his payoff?

I've only just watched Murray's interview and there's a lot of waving away of criticism. Oh well it's only our 2nd game of pre season, we've had a lot of turnover in the squad, we have a lot of inexperienced players, inexperienced defenders mean you're just going to concede goals and that's part of football.
