Garrity must be the worst header of a ball I’ve ever seen in professional football. I get it’s not a big part of his game but it’s incredible that a player has managed to reach this level without ever learning that to at least a basic standard. I think his headed chance yesterday is the worst miss of the lot.

For those blaming Murray. His win ratio with the mess of a squad he inherited is 28%. The win ratio for this season of the person who assembled said mess was 18%. If Imrie hadn't left and Murray hadn't come in, we'd be down already.

True, but his points per game record is only 0.02 better than Imrie's this season despite the much better win ratio, because where Imrie was drawing games that we should have won Murray is losing many more games that we should have drawn. It's why he has a worse points per game record than Johansson and the same as McElhone.

Imrie assembled a shite squad in the first place and Murray to his credit improved on it in January, but both of them are to blame for where we are.

I knew our big chances missed record would be bad but that’s just ridiculous.

Problem this season has been lack of an end product & there are times where we have done the hard work get into the box then do nothing with the final ball or finishing the move with a goal.

Can't agree with that.

Whilst a disappointing lack of wins this season under Imrie, as Dunning said we were still picking up points.

When Imrie left we were tracking 2 points ahead of where we were at the same point the season before (18 points from 16 compared to 16 from 16). Not great, but plodding along and not as bad as some make out.

We're now on 37 points from 34 so have picked up 19 points from 18 games since Imrie left.

Whilst we can't guarantee Imrie would have delivered another long winter undefeated streak, there's nothing to say he wouldn't have had the team continue to grind out points.

And who knows, maybe he'd have got us Innes Cameron instead of Curtis Feckin Main!

With Imrie and Murray's PPG being much the same, the bigger factor in us not being safe already is the stupidly long interim 'who's really in charge' period after Imrie left and the rotten results that generated.

The honking recent results and thrown away points under Murray also haven't helped though.

I disagree with this, because the interim period didn't deliver notably more (or less) 'rotten results' than the regimes either side of it. Getting shoed at Saint Johnstone is completely irrelevant.

Now we should have beaten Airdrie at home under the interim team, but didn't - but we also should have beaten Queens' Park at home, but didn't, on Saturday. And it wasn't under the interim management that we contrived to lose 3-0 at Airdrie or at QP, while we did in fact beat QP at Cappielow when required under interim management back in December. Once you account for the strength of opposition, their records are effectively the same. 

On a wider point, the 'big chances missed' mantra strikes me as a seriously dubious factoid, given how hopelessly subjective a term that is. The sniff test of this campaign, in my view at least, really does not support a swashbuckling Morton team that has created stacks of chances but somehow failed to put them away.

But even if you do buy that category, I suspect that the number of 'big chances conceded' would also be rather large too, certainly since Imrie left. As a defensive unit from front to back, this team can't keep weans out of a close and our frankly rancid away form under Murray is an outcome of this.
