All well and good, but if players are under contract and we are going to get rid of players there will be compensation required, or part wages paid for those who go out on loan. Doesn't leave a lot of money for reinforcements.

Well that was a rollercoaster. First half I thought Partick were the better side but we defended really well. Getting the two goals and going in 2 up at half time felt great but we all knew the next goal was crucial. Unfortunately Partick came out in the second half and went for it. Yeah we had some decent passages of play but got what we deserved. Defensively we looked so fragile as opposed to the first half. Also allowing the Partick players time and space to control the half killed us.

Glad Ian Murray was there and saw the best and worst of us. Lots of food for thought.

For those shouting for Ballantyne they were clearly not in attendance up in Perth. None of our defenders appear able to stay focused for 90 minutes. We lack belief and we lack leadership. There is some ability in the squad but you would find more backbone in a jellyfish. Best of luck to Ian Murray.

Few thoughts after I've had a pint to calm down.

First half we defended really well the goals came from nowhere really but we did look a threat at times, I didn't think Partick would be as bad as that come the second half and they weren't.

As soon as the second half kicked off  we had absolutely no game plan didn't have a shape didn't press, just sat back and let them come on to us the writing was on the wall after five minutes.

We really need someone like Murray to come in and actually have a game plan or tactics because we really were clueless today.

That was down to not having a competent manager on the sidelines. Wilson changed it at half time, took off a winger and packed their midfield. It was evident that we needed another CM in there to match them as we were getting overrun every time but he didn’t see it. Gillespie should have been on for O’Halloran, not Moffat. That’s what’s cost us.

Big job on his hands. Hopefully we can limp to 7th/8th and start again. Too many in this team are soft and shite.

We were basically 4-2-4 today. It should be 4-5-1 when defending but if those front 4 aren't on it for 90 minutes then the potential's there to just be cut open. That isn't the whole story today, but it's a big part of it. If you want to play with 2 wingers and Lyall as basically a number 10 then there's always a chance of being too open. The wide players need to get back and be able to actually defend.

I think Miller could see that the front players were failing (flagging), and that's why he replaced 3 of them. It didn't work and the way he did it was baffling- we could've done with other subs later on.

Yeah, he saw basically as soon as it went to 2-1 that O'Halloran's lack of energy couldn't be sustained so put Moffat on for him to give us someone who covered more ground defensively. That was an entirely logical decision, then he undermined it minutes later by putting Shaw on for Brophy, leaving us in the exact same position of carrying a winger who is utterly useless defensively. That was decisive with Shaw's absolute abdication of responsibility for the winner, we'd genuinely have been better off with nobody there than him drawing arrows for Watt for where to go and the angle to shoot from.

The first task for Murray is to melt that waster down for glue/send him to Kirkcaldy, whichever's cheaper.

Slept on it and looking at the positives from yesterday. We defended really well first half from front to back and the game plan to hit them on the counter worked well. Could and should have had more than 2 at half time. Thought Eamonn Brophy was really good in his link up play and put himself about and Garrity also looked dangerous. O'Halloran in warming to as he offers something with his pace and experience. The last 2/3 games Aaron Lyall has been the best player on the pitch at times and it's evident that when he plays and is on form we are a better side. Longridge and Moore I thought had good games especially against Samuel and Watt. Longridge has been excellent this season imo.

If only games last 45 minutes and the less said about the second half the better.

Im hopeful that Murray saw enough of the good and bad to know what out strengths are and what needs to be addressed both tactically in terms of the squad. I know a lot had been made this season about us having a bigger squad, more strength in depth but the subs did nothing for us yesterday although I think that was a combination of decisions made by Miller and the players he brought on.

Agree with this. The issue for me yesterday which I thought was very evident was that our best players on the day only had 55/60 minutes in them and they were burst. Then they were replaced with non like for like subs and players with less quality and/or work ethic. Felt this was a problem last week too against Ayr. The game just fizzled out when the subs came on and we were probably lucky in the end to get a point with Dempsey hitting post, dowds header missing.

Usually even getting a draw after being 2 up would be a kick in the balls but I said to my mates going into stoppage time that I would be delighted if we could hang on for the point. Sadly we couldn’t.

Both our goals came during really good spells for us, but in between them there was a good 10-15 minutes where we looked very shaky and could easily have conceded a couple.

Losing a goal so early was always going to be a struggle, and we just didn’t offer anything at all for the 2nd 45.  Particks play in the final 3rd was pretty neat and we couldn’t get near them.  In the end both teams got what they deserved.

Miller obviously takes a lot of the blame for that, but I’m just sick of some of these players. That second half showed a lack of willingness to be brave, take the ball in difficult positions and win us a foul or a throw in, keep possession, or overlap and commit to a counter attack when we might lose possession and you might have to do the hard yards coming back. The midfield unable or unwilling to make some in game positional changes and work together to cut out the long passes to Samuel. So much of this is stuff that experienced, determined players should be able to take charge of on the park to get us over the line.

I’m also not having it that the players not playing get better by default, the Ballantyne/Comrie debate being an example. Ballantyne is on the bench because he also hasn’t been good enough. I hope we can find someone to pick some of these players up in January, even if it’s on loan, to give us some flexibility to bring in others. I’ve lost hope of our long term injured players coming back and making an impact.

Its going to be difficult to get players in January we already have a bloated squad as it is.

The like of Storer you hope to keep on loan for the whole season, Hart should hopefully be away in January, depending what happens at Ross County maybe Lyall might get recalled even if his game has picked up recently but other than that everyone is under contract.

No idea what budget we will have or if Dalrada will pump more money in but its quite a thought having to stick with some of these players and hoping that Murray can get something out of them.

Was Davies not sitting with Murray at the game?

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Don't see him there unless he was sitting somewhere else.

Could be reading too much into it since he hasn't officially started yet but that seems a bit strange.

He was sitting behind him in the directors box but there was no interaction between them during the match. I didn't see him particularly interacting with the Morton directors either. I wouldn't want to read too much into it, apart from it doesn't look like they'll be working too closely together.

I was sitting not far away from the directors box. It was quite interesting to see some of the dynamics.

I remember the same peculiar social distancing last season at Firhill.

I was pretty much as close as possible to the directors box as well, was funny to see him almost crack a smile when we went 2-0 up then see his face drop when Tony Watt scored the winner.

I didn’t even see Davies so he definitely wasn’t anywhere near Murray.

He was just a few rows behind so was fairly near him, tbf.
