RossMcC1874 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 https://gmfc.net/club-statement-31-12-25/ I thought Christmas was last week. Laird has stepped down. 2
Jamie_M Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 (edited) Not manager news but chairman. Laird away. Big bad Morton fans blamed. Edited December 31, 2025 by Jamie_M
so72 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 John Laird has resigned, citing personal abuse as his reason why.
Popular Post dunning1874 Posted December 31, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2025 That statement sums John Laird up really. No acknowledgement of the gross incompetence that made his position untenable several months ago, never mind an apology for the complete mismanagement of the club, utter contempt for the support oozing out of every sentence, completely fabricated lies about personal abuse he's faced which simply did not happen. Good fucking riddance. 19 Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Oh Lord, Brian Wake
SpoonTon Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 We're a threat to shut down the internet away from a Hugh Scott level meltdown here. What does this mean for the Dalrada deal?
RossMcC1874 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 Last day of the year and what great news. The only concern now is what does that mean for the dalrada deal and do we actually have a plan moving forward if that all goes tits up. Davies was right about big changes in January well not even January. No manager no chairman. Intresting way to start the year.
Rossco Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 There has been no personal abuse unless he is talking about people openly criticising, even at games he has been getting an easy time of it with only a few shouts of Laird GTF. Odd statement at an Odd time to do it & 0 accountability from Laird.
Popular Post irnbru Posted December 31, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2025 He's left the club in an absolute state. Can't say I've seen or heard anything beyond criticism of his performance and his lies but he's seems a bit of a narcissist so wonder if he thinks that's what's libellous. Obviously if something has happened it should be condoned but, given his previous actions and lashing out at simple questions at the last meeting, I'm not convinced. 4
so72 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 I'm sure he thinks the abuse is real, and he is definitely talking about this site. Full of self-importance. Just hope Dalrada see through it all and actually start to put their money to good use off the park.
Popular Post Chicken_Soup Posted December 31, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2025 The bitterness in that post is so predictable. A complete charlatan who claimed he was “steering the ship” at the same time as claiming he couldn’t be held accountable as his role was purely advisory. It was a major problem for us that he was ever allowed into such a position. Best news this club has had in a long time, good riddance. 4
Gordon Ritchie Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 (edited) If he and his board were competent, they wouldn’t have missed, for example, the deadline for lodging the company confirmation statement. According to Companies House, it’s late. I understand that most fans don’t know or care what that means, but it can lead to the company being struck off and assets seized by the government!!! I’ve tried to post a screenshot from Companies House here, but I’ve probably not done it right. Edited December 31, 2025 by Gordon Ritchie 1
Popular Post dunning1874 Posted December 31, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2025 If John Laird wants to talk about respect and decency, he should maybe reflect on how much of that he's given others in his time at the club. We could start with the way Graham McLennan was unceremoniously removed as a honorary director in the summer? 6 Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Oh Lord, Brian Wake
Popular Post The Bewilderedbeast Posted December 31, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2025 Maybe he has just remembered his speech on the Supporters club around 2 years ago now, when he said "if the Morton fans don't want me here I'll go". 1 2
Greacen2000 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 wonderful news to start the new year. Blaming personal abuse towards him & his family is disappointing but also unsurprising. He has been an abject failure during his time at the club and was only here on the insistence of our sponsor. Good riddance. 1
Jani Inenuot Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 I don't go on the club website very often. Pleased to see yesterday's news item that we now have a new electric kit van. I'm sure it'll make a more positive contribution to the club than those on their way out.
dunning1874 Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 The personal abuse line really is straight out of the Hugh Scott playbook. Interesting that he's never wanted to go into specifics about his 40 year association with the club and whether he was involved at all from 1997-2001.
