gmfc_craig Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 Janne Lindberg for me. Played same position I did for school/BB growing up and just loved his football brain. Not a prolific goalscorer but he could make things happen. Magical to watch for me as a kid 1
SassenachTon Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 (edited) Billy Osborne. I had a Subbuteo game with one set of players in blue & white hoops. I'd beat my kid brother every time and Billy always scored the winner. Edited to add - I just visited the website in a fit of nostalgia. There used to be over 800 different kits available, all handpainted. Now there's just a tiny handful. Sad. Edited December 12, 2025 by SassenachTon
CowshedTon Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 My random one was Lars Christiansen. Can’t mind much about him other than he had a hell of a shot on him, but he must have made an impression.  But if I had to name one it would be Rowan Alexander with the forward roll celebration. Would kill for a forward like him now.Â
Tubes Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 Derek McInnes just at the tail end of his Morton career stood out for me, loved him. Alongside Rajamaki and Lindberg I felt a bit spoiled for choice! 1

Ro Ro Super-Ro.  I remember for a season (maybe around 88-89) him doing a somersault goal celebration was on the Scotsport opening credits  Exact same for me. The goal was at the new McDiarmid Park (at the time) "CORNBEEF IS A BELLEND"
DunTon Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 This probably shows my age but I remember being a devastated wee kid when Michael Tidser left and then a thrilled wee kid when I found out he was coming back Imrie would've been up there for giving me a top 5 childhood memory but we all know how that season turned out...
bob_the_builder Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 First proper Morton hero was Rowan Alexander when my Dad took me to my first ever football game back in the late 80s early 90s. But it soon became Rajamaki when I started going regularly during the 94/95 2nd Division season. here today, gone to hell
Hands of Cowan Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 Rowan Alexander, Derek Collins would be up there for me but "Big Psycho" was just so unpredictable and didn't muck about in important challenges or tackles. John Boag RIP
CM48 Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 My first season was 79/80 so no surprise it’s the King of Cappielow, but lots of great memories from that whole team. So many of them headed off to have impressive careers at big clubs. As a teenager though I always loved watching Jim Hunter sweeping up behind Boag, Doak and Brian Reid who might not have got his move to Rangers if he didn’t have such a reliable partner alongside him.Â

However, IIRC, Joe had gone to Ibrox before Jim arrived.
strummerton Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 George Anderson - I remember him having to take over in goal from an injured Roy Baines after about 10 mins in a match at Cappielow vs Falkirk circa 1973/74. I think we eventually lost the match 3-2, but he did play well. I also remember him doing his famous "up and unders" where he'd the belt the ball high into the opposition half then dash forward to meet the ball and beat their offside trap. Happy memories!
arthurmontfordsjacket Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 It should have been Allan McGraw, but wee Jimmy Wilson it was.Â
TONofmemories Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 Super Alex. I spoke with him at the anniversary night in the town hall and by his own admission, he knew how much more of himself he could and should have made. Really nice guy actually, despite his past. TIME FOR CHANGE!

bazooka Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 Just about remember Ritchie at the tail end of his time at Morton so probably can't count him but Jim Duffy and John McNeil ( he lived along road from me) where 2 early favourites. Dougie Robertson too.Â
montheton Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 Possibly Alexander, however tainted when I seen him brush off some young supporters trying to get an autograph while he was walking up Sinclair Street before a home match. But Mark Pickering will be my choice from a nostalgic boys POV that got me hooked.
