Even without the points deduction we'd have been 12 points ahead of Hamilton last season. No doubt Rankin has been working with off-field circumstances that make some of what Imrie was dealing with look easy, but he also got them relegated the first time before any off-field problems hit and was underachieving relative to the quality of their squad last season regardless. You'll not find anyone in Scottish football who doesn't have sympathy for him getting his head down and trying to work through that mess, but he has not done a good job. Mr.Blue Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Wonder if we'll get an interview with Dougie explaining his thought process, decisions etc. I know it's part and parcel of football but you'd the with the support and opportunities he's had that he'd at least say cheerio. There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come

His opinions should now be treated with the same attitude shown to any other opposition manager. I've got nothing against the guy for making a career move to suit himself, but football is tribal and he's ditched us for a direct competitor mid-season after fumbling a transfer window. I hope we pump Raith in all the remaining fixtures. 9

Hightide Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Going to a direct competitor halfway through the season after being given a big budget to play with (and make an arse of). He’ll be getting hounded. He’ll not be given as much leeway up there as he did here. Not sure the Fifers will put up with his rancid style of football for as long as we did. 1 1

Aye we will get that interview soon I’m hearing. In his Raith trackie interviewed by Raith staff.

You could also argue that we binned his assistant without telling him we were going to do so (or letting him know of the plan afterwards either). Whatever anyone thinks of him as a manager, the club could have treated him much better. 2
RossMcC1874 Posted November 25, 2025 Author Posted November 25, 2025 The bed is still warm and he already has the track suit on. Oh well onwards lets see who we get next. You would imagine Davies gets the next month or two and depending on results we go from there. Unless the board already have a candidate in mind but that might be a stretch too far.
CM48 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Big questions now regarding the last couple of years for me. Chief Exec hired and away (still without a replacement?). Highly valued Asst Manager let go without really getting a full explanation on that, or seemingly any desire to try and sort it and keep him. FIFA debacle along with MCT/GMFC Boards turmoil (STILL no real consequences with all that fallout) Groundsman for the last 10-15(?) years away. Billy Davies in to do...? No improvement in home crowd numbers or season ticket sales. And now Dougie's gone despite having a much improved budget (so we keep being told) and at a time of the season where I'm sure he'd have been confident of getting into the next round of the cup and winning our 2 next home games to be pushing for the top 4. And also to a club and fanbase who, as someone else has pointed out, will not have much patience if there isn't a quick improvement. I really don't like being negative and just want to enjoy supporting the club with the belief that we're being led well and everyone involved is pulling in the same direction (dreamland stuff I know), but none of the above sits well with me. Hamilton and ICT type scenarios give me the fear and I hope that MCT and recent restructuring there can help avoid such things, but it might be nice to hear more reassurances along those lines, rather than just wanting "draws to be turned into wins". 1

I've always wondered why he's never taken/been offered a manager's role but is so often linked. I honestly don't have a clue what he's like as a coach.

He falls into the same category as a Gary Naysmith or Rhys McCabe for me - willing to try it within League 1 and see what they can build, but not willing to take the risk while we have a Championship place to preserve.

He's had one of the cushiest jobs going for years, and even now Celtic fans were shocked he finally got emptied.

I mean, I admit there was a fair amount of cynicism in my post (while also admitting I really don't have a clue what he's like). I kinda thought we were past the John Kennedy for every job stuff once he moved to the other side of the world. Guys like that do often try their hand at management before going back to another job behind the scenes.

I might have completely missed it but did anything ever come of the new Morton board structure? I'm sure it was two MCT, two Dalrada and three joint board members. Also unsure of whether the two existing MCT reps are getting on after all the drama in the summer - it's all went pretty quiet there. MCT, to be fair, have upped their comms and seem to have lots of things in the works but the main thing is the club governance (and them being accountable to MCT).
