ConTon74 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Naysmith should be nowhere near consideration for the job. Would like to see what mcindoe would have to offer but the list of potential candidates doesn’t fill me with much hope. Regarding Imrie it’s a shame the way it’s ended but it’s no secret he was looking for a move elsewhere but a sideward step is an odd decision. Just seemed to be a repeat for the last few seasons: bad start, great middle, bad end then finish mid table. Should never have went away from the big bad physical Morton persona but if he wants to play football a different way then so be it.
SpoonTon Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Record now reporting that it's a done thing, with Millen to join him (making a note of how the decision to let him go irked Imrie). They also don't expect Davies to take the job full time.
thehustler Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Unsure why anyone would be bothered that he's gone. He achieved absolutely zero unless surviving in a poor quality league is an achievement. Last season and this the football has been dire. And if you start on the low budget argument then take a look at Arbroath who were minutes away from the Premier league, something Imrie could only dream of. So good riddance Imrie and I figure he'll be unemployed within a year. 8
RossMcC1874 Posted November 25, 2025 Author Posted November 25, 2025 If Davies doesn't want it full time then I've got a feeling we will end up with someone like Doolan.
Rossco Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Andy graham has done decent job at alloa. Worth considering.
DumfriesTon Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Surprisingly not as gutted as I would have been this time last year. It feels this season it has gone a bit stale and probably for the best he’s away, seeing as it seems he’s applied for every job going. No idea if Davies will be any good but would assume he will be in charge for the foreseeable.
Cat10 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Dont really get all the hate towards Imrie. He has done a decent job in his time at the club considering the shit show he took over as well as the shit show over the summer. Lets face it, Raith are a bigger team than us and he has chosen to take next step in his career the same as any career minded person. 1 7
DaftTon74 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 I am very much on this fence with how I feel about this one. Part of me is gutted as Imrie has produced some brilliant moments during his tenure and if it wasn’t for him when he came in, we would likely be rotten away in the seaside leagues along with teams like QOTS. The other part of me thinks Imrie has taken us as far as he can and a move may be best for both parties. From our point of the view, the football is very stale and we have a completely bloated squad which has not benefited from the additional budget we had, a change in management may freshen this up and give us fresh ideas. From Imries point of view, it is no secret that he has a bit of a poor relationship with the folk behind the scenes, had a lot of shit to deal with budget and finance wise, not to mention his assistant got told they were not getting kept on either. So can completely understand why he fancies a change and move away from the club. Imrie goes with my best wishes (except against us) and I thank him for his commitment during the time at the club, which cannot be faulted. 1
Rossco Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 I am less worried about Davies taking charge having been in & around the squad since the start of the season than Davies coming in out of the wilderness & being appointed as unemployed. I am hoping it is short term but can't see the board appointing anyone else this season even if we never win another game this season I can't see them hiring externally.
Tubes Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 It’s disappointing going to a team like Raith to be honest and feels a bit mental having turned down Partick which I (sickeningly) could understand him leaving us for. He’s done fantastic for us and will always be held in high regard by the fans for what he’s done during his spells here as a player and a manager. We just absolutely have to get this next appointment right. Our season could go either way at this stage so hopefully a galvanising appointment can spur us up the table. We cannot rush into something and bring in someone fucking stupid.
Popular Post Jamie_M Posted November 25, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2025 Nah, gutted it looks like he is finally away. 5th longest serving manager in the entire SPFL. Kept us up after the carnage of Macpherson and kept the ship steady when all around him was a bin fire. Regardless of his personal ambitions, nobody can say he didn't work his arse off for the club despite all the challenges put in front of him. Would have liked to see what he could do with a larger, more competitive budget but also a full, clear summer to run and it and build with it. Will go down as a very good appointment all things considered and one of the few real positives to give the board of recent years credit for. Let's hope their next appointment turns out as favourable. 12
dunning1874 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 The timing is a massive blow as well, we've got a potentially season defining three weeks coming up between the Scottish Cup then two of the relegation contenders at home (the Challenge Cup is less important but also a competition we should be having a run in mixed in there). Win both those league games and we should be looking forward feeling a lot safer, take less than four and we're in bother. 1 1 Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Oh Lord, Brian Wake

Ferguson Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Imrie done a good job with us, easy to forget how much of a bin fire we were when he first took over. Plenty fond memories and we’re now in a far better position than we were previously. This season we’ve failed to capitalise on our biggest budget and squad in years. Certainly an underperformance thus far, and I’m looking forward to seeing if some fresh ideas can give us a boost. Andy Graham and McIndoe are my preferences. A plethora of uninspiring, meh options out there that I’d be somewhat ok with. Will be interesting to see where we go from here.
CowshedTon Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 I'd be interested to know how much the compensation package is going to be. Considering the money invested to get Dougie his UEFA Pro‑Licence (£10k+ but may be subsidised) only to jump ship is a bit of a kick in the baws. Can't deny that he worked his absolute arse off but this season really hasn't worked out, and a change is probably for the best for both parties. With the madness that is Morton these days, I wouldn't be shocked to see Gillespie made up as an interim with Davies remaining as whatever TF he's doing.

Gillespie has not interest in coaching or managing. There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come
GiGi Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Usually if a business pays towards qualifications for an employee it comes with the caveat that if they leave within a certain timeframe that some/all of the amount is to be paid back. I would hope we have something sensible like that in place if we've paid for coaching licences. 1 Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

I really don't think he has. For Alloa's squad and likely budget to be consistently below Stenhousemuir in the same division, and for them to pose no serious challenge for promotion are both signs of underperformance. If Graham didn't have a Morton background he wouldn't even remotely be in the conversation right now. 3 The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Honestly I have no idea. But I'm sure there was a comment last year from the higher ups along the lines of we've paid for this so use it - which was the end of big bad Morton and led into Imrie-ball which leads me to believe that they did pay at least some of it. Could all be utter BS though. Surprised about Gillespie not having any interest in at least coaching, think he's do well at the right club.

I thought so as well but I ended up speaking to him about it last season and he was a categorical no. May have changed his mind but doubt it. 1 There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come
