I couldn't care less about him sitting in the stand rather than the dugout, plenty of managers do it for a better view, but in general a cynical reading of Davies not wanting the job could be that he thinks he's above managing Morton, will at some point be leaving for a better job when a managerial offer comes along and is doing us a favour by being here in the meantime.

On the bright side, if we manage to take six points from the Queen's Park and Airdrie games then that would put us on 24 points after 18 games, at worst 10 points clear of 10th and probably more: the new manager would need to be a disaster to relegate us from that position. Alternatively, if we fail to win either we're in serious bother.

Murray was under contract until summer 2027, so that's possible.

While we're on contract lengths, of names mentioned who are with other clubs, Gary Naysmith and Michael McIndoe are both under contract until summer 2028. Alloa didn't publicise the length of Andy Graham's new contract in the summer but probably a reasonable assumption that it was only one year, considering there was widespread agreement (including Graham publicly describing himself as underachieving) that last season was a failure and he was lucky to get a new deal at all.

Doesn't mean any of them don't have clauses that would still make compensation affordable when we've just received compensation ourselves.

A few days ago he was "born ready" to be a manager. I think he wants to be a manager again but he clearly views Morton as a risk to his "reputation" but also an easy pay day at moment.

Should we appoint external, as they not allowed an Assistant and the stand sitter is there or will there be budget for an assistant or will he swing out of Cappielow to allow a new management team ??

Wouldn't say to to McCann TBH.

I'd most likely go for Iain Murray though.

It's pretty clear we aren't ready to be promoted the club should be aiming for the playoffs and thats what we are doing.

I dont think its a negative viewpoint it just puts things into perspective I dont disagree what what he is saying.

Quite intresting we are looking at applicants from all over the world. A foreign manager at Morton? Surely not

I really don't understand this mentality.  Even if we lost every single game, a year in the top flight would be a massive boost to the clubs finances.  The only way this type of chat makes sense is if there is some issue with the stadium or facilities that would require us to spend a crippling amount of money to rectify in order to be allowed up.

The infrastructure, etc might not be best suited but at the end of the day a team should be setting out to win every game.

If the board said we're aiming to have a premier league infrastructure in year or two it's understandable (and obvious) but it's really frustrating when a manager has that attitude with an ambition of finishing between 8th and 5th. It's not exactly selling the club to players of fans.

Unless Dalrada are going to summon up a few million quid for some serious upgrades to Cappielow, any talk of a multi-season plan is a synonym for managed decline.

A cycle of yo-yo promotions is the only genuine chance of real improvement we've got.

Don't forget about all their big plans for us to have cutting edge technology at the stadium. Must be due by now.

Aye, reading that you’d be forgiven for thinking we were back in the Gus McPherson days.

What’s more notable is that in the here and now, the article says he’s ruled himself out of the job. That’s not in any quote attributed to him, so perhaps it’s to come in the half-time video which most of us will miss while at the game.

Dalrada must've depleted their technology budget when they replaced the washing machines.

Don't think many are waiting on a quote - it's been widely reported all week.
