What part is untrue? Whether you agree or not I think most folk although they think it was the wrong decision will see why McKay didn't pass.

I'm not extremely forgiving nor do I have any other reasons apart from being realistic.

I know I'm in the minority which is fine.

That “Anyone who has played football at any level will understand why he didn't pass the ball.”

Plenty of us don’t. My level of football might be a world away from the professional leagues, but I don’t understand it at all.

Anyway, the pace and skill he showed to go past a couple of players is cause for optimism so I’ll leave it there and hope for better in future.

Imrie suggested that we will need a lot of pace next week so maybe McKay will finally get his chance to start.

Still very raw and I dont think the end product is there yet but if he can get a run of games in the team then maybe he can offer us something different.

He’s only ran the length of the pitch because of his refusal to pass the ball. He could’ve played in Garrity three times and we’d have won the game 2-0. It was terrible decision making that meant he was still in possession of the ball at that point and more terrible decision making to shoot rather than pass, having got that far.

Why should he have played in Garrity, when his decision not to ended with him being clean through on the goalkeeper anyway? What guarantee was there that Garrity would control the pass and get through on goal (being at least a bit slower than McKay - giving defenders a chance to get goal side again - and that he would then score?

Playing the ball across at the very end of the move is the clear, higher percentage decision to score, but to try and add on criticism all the way back to the halfway line is bonkers.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

To significantly increase the chance of the team scoring a goal, which would significantly increase the chance of the team winning the match. Which is the objective.

To keep choosing the more difficult option again and again just reduces the chance of a goal with each phase. And I’m not sure who you think was catching Garritty, unless you’re expecting Shaw to accelerate (unlikely) and rugby tackle him (unlikelier).

What was more difficult about knocking the ball past some dumpling, tired after 85 minutes, and trusting your own pace to get clean through on the goalkeeper? Which he then did, quite easily.

As above, just an absolutely bonkers criticism to make.

The only bonkers content here is you questioning what’s so difficult about dribbling the length of the pitch in a competitive match.

I’m out, and if it happens again I’ll storm the pitch and conduct a live coaching session.

This might be the most pointless conversation in the world. It didn't affect the result and I'm sure McKay will have learned from it. Have a day off.

You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!

Erm, the entire M.O of this forum is "pointless conversation", which keeps the ad revenue trickling in.

Followed by an equally pointless observation. Welcome aboard.

Massive result which we absolutely needed with Queens Park getting the win & the 3 above us all dropping points.  Could have been more comfortable in the end but for an amazing save followed by a goal line clearance, and the chance McKay had.

I thought McPherson had a much better game.  Still a couple of poor decisions and definitely room for improvement, but on the whole a decent shift from him.

I don't have any issue with McKay taking the shot.  He created the chance for himself out of nothing, and had he squared it for Garrity & it not led to a goal, the same people would probably be criticising him for not having a pop.  In the end it didn't make a difference to the result so it doesn't matter.  My main take away was actually the skill, pace & strength he showed in creating the opportunity - something I hope to see more of from him - we sure need it.

That finish from Moore - wow.  At the time I thought it was a header but watching it back that was an outrageous finish that a centre half has no right to be making.  I thought the goal last week was maybe a bit of luck - stuck his leg out and managed to send it goalward, but there was no mistaking saturdays goal - it was a top drawer finish.  Honestly, if we weren't so thin defensively I would be suggesting we give him a shot up front.

Still absolutely brutal to watch for long spells, but we got the result which gives us something to build on.  Another 3 points next week please

That's a fair point.

He got (deservedly IMO) very heavily criticised for an absolute nightmare against St Johnstone, but he put in a solid performance on Saturday. The jury is still out on him, but he deserves credit for the positive response to the absolute mauling he got a couple of weeks ago.

Some fuckin' mullet that, by the way

MacPherson was certainly the least worst of the three in front of Wilson. And it's certainly a better plan to try to let him find his form in a more advanced position with Wilson there to cover. We'll be better when Blues and Crawford are fit and playing.

As for McKay. Garrity would have been tapping the ball into an empty net. Passing gave the better chance of a goal and would have been the right decision. I hope he learns from that, because up until that final moment it was an impressive passage of play from him. He took the more difficult route twice in that move - it worked for him with the run but you just can't miss when there's a simple pass for a tap in there. I'm sure Imrie will make sure he gets the message.
