First time I've made a game in a few weeks and actually thought we look much better than a month or so ago.

However we were outclassed for a lot of that today by what looks to be a very good Partick side.

It was a well worked goal by us, from the initial move to win the corner then winning the second ball (one of the very few times we managed that) followed by a quality ball and finish. And only a brilliant save stopped us getting a second.

Again however, Partick will be wondering how they only managed one goal today.

It all points to another mad season of half the time looking up and thinking about 4th, and almost all of it looking over our shoulder at 9th. As ever in our league finishing in either of those spots or anywhere in between wouldn't be that big of a surprise.

Crowd not too bad considering our lack of wins but in years gone by might have been 500-1000 more.

If only there was some sort of statistical record by now of our ability to play up and then immediately down to the rest of the division on a weekly basis.

Yeah, that’s us in the middle there.

Gillespie was anonymous when he came on - it was like playing with ten men.

i’d disagree about our lack of chances- Moffat’s header which hit the post followed by an outstanding save from Shaw’s shot, which, from my angle looked a goal all the way came close tp giving us a second

Disagree about Gillespie. I thought he was fine. Difficult to come on when the team are up against it, being overrun in midfield and watt is dropping into midfield to compliment that.

That ball into the box wasn’t closed down at all for their goal. Potentially from a very jaded looking Shaw who should’ve been brought off as he was dead on his feel the last 10 mins.

Storer was excellent and Lyall looking like a player again 👏🏻 Our triple sub changed the game for us giving us more legs and energy but don’t think we ever really looked like scoring another goal.

Yeah, beneath Partick, Ayr and Raith, having been outplayed at Cappielow for large parts of each game and taking 2 points from 9 against them. And also being outplayed at home by Dunfermline as well, who will soon take their complimentary 3 points from Airdrie to briefly re-enter the mix too.

So when our Dalrada overlords are setting a promotion play-off spot as the ambition and chucking all available money at the first team - rather than the decrepit business side - it becomes a problem when zero evidence points in the direction of us being seriously involved in the mix. Yesterday was not just one bad day at the office: it has been the norm all season.

To be clear, we are also in no serious danger of relegation either, unless the wheels come off spectacularly behind the scenes. But we are a seriously mediocre team playing to the exact sum of our parts. You can write in a 6th or 7th place finish right now, and waiting for Wick away in the cup to inject something of note to this campaign.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

What an unnecessarily negative take. Alternatively, this is the best first quarter Imrie has ever produced, only one team in the league has been able to beat us, we would have even more points if not for costly refereeing mistakes, we have strengthened throughout that quarter with players like Brophy, Lyall and Comrie, and those we did have at the start of the campaign are now more familiar with each other. And yesterday wasn’t a bad day at the office at all, far from it. We were minutes away from a fantastic result against the form team in the league.

There’s plenty of evidence that gives cause for optimism, you are however very welcome to continue ignoring it.

Alternative facts like those produced from the Trump White House, sure. In reality, none of that so-called strengthening has produced a team that matches our direct competitors (indeed, we were more competitive at Partick in August than yesterday's attempt at daylight robbery), and it is quite likely that our first home league win of the season won't be delivered until December.

You can fool some of the people some of the time with this repetitive gurning about refereeing decisions, but the reality of our objectively mediocre performances and results every week speak for themselves.

Doom and gloom it is. Let’s revisit after quarters 2 and 3, where - to your shock - the league positioning of several teams may have changed.

People keep saying this, but we had the same number of points and a better goal difference after 9 games last season, and had more points after the first quarter in 22/23. Of course last season we then followed that up with three defeats in a row, conceding 10 and scoring 0, so as of game number 10 we are better off.

I think we all want to be upbeat but anyone who has watched the first quarter has to acknowledge we have not played well. It is a positive we have not had many defeats but for the most part we have been second best and a hard watch.

Correct me if I'm wrong I thought we picked up a point against Ayr in the Friday night game which ended 1-1 after defeats at Hamilton (3-0) and Grangemouth (6-0)

We had a 1-0 defeat at home to Queen's Park in there as well.

He looks that way about 95% of the time he plays.
