Mr.Blue Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Quiet today boys.... I like it quiet. Tough game today. County have been poor but Tony Docherty is a good move imo. They have a good squad and should definitely be higher up the table. Storer Comrie Ballantyne Longridge Delaney Wilson McPherson Crawford Garrity Brophy Adeloye. Subs - Murdoch, Hart, Corr, Blues, Gillespie, Robertson, Moffat, McKay. No idea on formations but I reckon that will be the starting 11. Good luck picking a team once everyone is back and fit but that's what Dougie is paid for. Can see another draw incoming which isn't ideal. We must start picking up wins. There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come
sax man Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I don’t want to hear any more ‘woe is me’ about referees decisions, we just need to be better all over the park. Poor decision making, lack of movement off the ball, negative passes, naivety through the team……this could end up a drubbing if we don’t show up.
vikingTON Posted September 27 Posted September 27 This obsession with playing wingers. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Highly unlikely to be a drubbing, as this team specialises in insipid boredom instead. This predictably gubbins formation of 3 playing (30 yards) behind Brophy should be punted at half time. I'd take two of that three off the park at half time as well, with Crawford and Adeloye on. Play two up front and look to overrun the centre of the park. dunning1874 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 This is just hopeless. No idea how this team is supposed to score a goal. It was a stonewall penalty. MacPherson showing exactly the amount of intelligence you'd expect from a horrible wee racist by diving in there. Quite apart from his personality, he'd been absolutely diabolical and deserved off at half-time for his performance if he hadn't been forced off through an injury first, though Corr and Wilson are also serious contenders for worst player on the park. Luckily for him it wasn't his saluting arm. Defence is a riot, the usual mess on the left hand side made so much worse by having Corr, who's never looked up to this level, alongside Longridge. 4 Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Oh Lord, Brian Wake
irnbru Posted September 27 Posted September 27 MacPherson and Comrie are not upgrades on Blues and Ballantyne. 1
vikingTON Posted September 27 Posted September 27 At least we have yet another hard luck story to persuade ourselves that having one shot on target in the rest of the game (Adeloye, just there) is an acceptable return for a team at home and winless in two months. Like for like subs are brutal. 1 1 The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. ConTon74 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Referee said he thought Brophy last headed the ball onto Robertson & he was standing 5 yards away from it. Shafted near enough every week off of these morons

Thought the penalty was a silly decision from McPherson. I thought our disallowed goal looked offside and wasn't surprised to see the flag go up. Also need to see whether the keeper made a great save or adeloye made a rip roaring cunt of that chance. I've tried to defend Adeloye in his time here but he's a lazy bastard and needs to be told where to go. Stealing a wage. Hope Crawford and McPherson's injuries aren't too bad. 1 There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come

Adeloye did far more today in half an hour, than Brophy did from the start. Why the collective double standards from our fanbase then? I don't care if a forward is lazy or hard working alone - if you just want the latter, get Jordan Davies back. Adeloye is however (relatively) switched on in the penalty box, which is hardly unusual in a striker. 2 1 The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. CM48 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Couldn’t make it today and trust the opinions of most on here when describing a performance lacking in creativity, but having a look at the stats on the BBC it looks like we were the only side trying to win? I’m really hoping so as thought of not getting 3 points next week and going through every team in the division with no wins is pretty grim, even if we’ve been worse off at this stage before pretty recently.
vikingTON Posted September 27 Posted September 27 The midfield/attack we should be playing is: Blues Wilson Lyall Crawford Brophy/Adeloye (? - Rotational pick) You can either go with two centre forwards, or have any of our sand dancers to play off one. Both they and Crawford can drift out wide if needed, but starting with these wingers (and mediocre full backs in support) is setting us up to fail each week. Is any opposition manager or player losing sleep at facing our wide options? Pretty much. Ross County had very little of the ball in our half and storer had nothing of note to do in the 90 minutes 1
IanClinging Posted September 27 Posted September 27 We'll probably not see a more one sided second half all season. We should be turning that dominance into wins though, regardless of what nonsense the referee pulls. 2
GiGi Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Should have won. If we were in the habit we'd have easily done so the way that second half went. Missing quality and having no luck. Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'
DumfriesTon Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Most one sided half of football I’ve seen in a long time. Battered them throughout and deserved to win. Adeloye has to score at the end but looked an incredible save. I don’t think it was a penalty and our disallowed goal clearly came off their player. Another shocking refereeing performance. Much better intensity in the 2nd half and if we can play like that every week then we’ll be fine. 1
Pedrodelawasp Posted September 27 Posted September 27 (edited) Not been to any games since Motherwell away as the major motivation to go was spending time with my dad, but my parents are not doing very well these days and it’s just not really high up the agenda. Anyway, still checking in here from time to time to see how everyone thinks the team is shaping up, what’s working and what’s not, etc. Given the majority of assessments on here, would it be an idea to change shape/personnel and shift to a narrower 442/4411 rather than persisting with out of form wide players? Storer Ballantyne Moore Longridge Delaney Blues Wilson Crawford Lyall Garrity Brophy Or something similar? Edited September 27 by Pedrodelawasp

Brophy should never have been taken off. Id go as far as saying of he stays on the pitch we win the game. RossMcC1874 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Second half one way traffic they barely got out their own half. No idea why MacPherson is slide tackling in the box absoulte madness stupid decision Storer unlucky think he got a hand too it. Garrity was my MOTM worked his arse off and really put in a shift thought his end product was also good and very positive on the ball. No idea how we didn't win that. Need to take our chances can't keep this whole hard luck story even if the officials were utterly useless today. I think Lyall will help us at the top of the pitch but Adeloye and Brophy really need to start giving us more.
