Tough week for the club and the community. I know there's been a lot of chat about whether the game should be going ahead or not but the decision has been made. Hopefully as many fans get along as possible to show our love and support for the gaffer, his family and wee Remi; and the players can put in a performance.

Not sure how this one will go as Ayr haven't been in the best of form but still a good side. We really need to be winning our home games and this one is definitely winnable.

Assuming everyone is fit....

Storer

Ballantyne Moore Longridge Delaney

Shug Blues

Shaw Crawford Moffat

Brophy

Subs- Murdoch, Corr, Hart, Gillespie, Taylor, Robertson, Garrity, Adeloye, O'Halloran.

We need to get that balance in the forward areas and at the moment playing both Brophy and Adeloye up top isn't working. Brophy looks like the better option at the moment.

2-1 Morton.

Mon eh Ton.

Pretty sure Taylor is out for a long period. Tele reporting yesterday that they are waiting on a scan and could face anything from 3-12 months on the sidelines.

Really? I completely missed that.

A shame if it's long term as he's looked like a decent addition to the squad.

Billy Davis confirmed that the officials have apologised for the error in awarding the penalty in  the Partick game.

If I'm right was Longridge yellow carded. If so is that card rescinded given that it obviously wasn't foul play?

From memory, you can't rescind a yellow card, only a red.

Be interesting to see the response from the squad considering the performance against Aberdeen and everything that has happened the past week.

Hopefully we see a much improved performance, Ayr haven't started great themselves but have some good players and Oakley is always a danger.

Can see this being another draw but a win is really needed the longer it goes the more it may get on the players mind even though it's only been two games in the league.

Wilson needs a break, he's looked miles off it recently and has to have some recovery time.

With Adeloye out I'm not surprised O'Halloran starts.

Concerning how lacking we look in the physical aspects again today. I know hammer thrower centre forwards is very much big spending Ayr's specialism, but if you are too wee or weak to win the first ball reliably, you need to dominate the second balls.

Like the Dunfermline game, it's going to be a struggle to end up with more than a draw (at best) when you're giving up so much of the ball in your own half.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Tracking your runners is really the most basic ask of a professional defender.

We have been poor, again. Unconvincing thus far in the league.

So far, I remain a bit unconvinced by the transfer window and additions we have made and feel we are going to struggle.

I’d say our biggest problem so far has been we’ve been too easy to play against. We’re far too soft all over the park need to start being basterds. Bring back big bad physical Morton please

I agree, but we look like wee sand dancer Morton. We've been bullied by bigger teams consistently this season and end up with halves of football where we can't compete for balls in any area of the park.

We've done well to dig anything out of that.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Happy to take a point after that but, like last season, we need to start winning games. Think first 3 games of last season we drew 3 then came Falkirk, 2 up and beat 3-2.

Agreed that we are too soft and need to be more physical and present in challenges. The style, tactics, formation all need looked at. We play the way we are playing and we could suffer a heavy defeat, sooner than later.

I was worried about the physicality of our squad and today's performance just highlights that even more.

Some signings like Moore and Storer are promising but I think we still lack experience and strength in the middle of the park and through the spine of the defence, Wilson has been so far off it this season which is worrying and Longridge just doesn't seem comfortable for me playing at centre back.

Not convinced by our attacking play either yes it's almost entirely a new squad and it needs time to gel and this week has obviously been very difficult for the players but we still seem pretty makeshift up there.

for a no winger policy at this football club.

Against Partick we fully competed - and could easily have won away from home - by adding players to the centre of midfield and having two up front. For some bizarre reason, we revert to the same, gubbins 4-2-3-1 that didn't work previously. The three playing behind Brophy aren't good enough to break teams down, and don’t contribute effectively in defence either. Garrity and McKay aren't starters at this level either. It just surrenders too much to the opposition, when we don't have as effective a centre back partnership as last season to mop things up.

Against Ayr's front two playing a back 3 is better and we looked much more comfortable after making that change. After next Saturday's paddling, we should go back to the Partick system and dump half of these wingers in the sea.

Thought Garrity looked quite dangerous when he came on. Was willing to get at defenders and put balls into the box. Would be starting him ahead of Shaw or O'Halloran at least.

Brophy was far from motm (when it was announced) but looks like he would link up well and is dangerous in the box. Need players near him though.

Also thought Robertson looked good.
