BishopBrennan Posted August 15 Posted August 15 There doesn't seem to be much excitement heading into this one. How would you line up for it? You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!
James Posted August 15 Posted August 15 I might be judging him too early, but Longridge worries me. Admire his aggression but his insistence on going after every ball played within 20 yards of him is getting him dragged all over the pitch. So I’d have Corr or Hart in at centre back and Longridge at left back - giving a centre back pairing tasked with defending the box and two full backs I trust to do well in their one on ones. Also content with a back five. Going forward I think we’ve shown enough to say we’ll create a few chances, as ever it will be about being more clinical.

Can't seem Imrie putting in Hart who has barely played any football since he was brought in for such a big game. Corr was mince against Motherwell albeit playing out of position and hasn't really played much football. Hopefully its 2 up top both Adeloye and Brophy can cause issues would also like to see wee Moffat back in hopefully this is the season he can really kick on he showed it in flashes last season but needs to be more consistent if he does he has everything else to go far.
ConTon74 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Off the back of 2 draws & Aberdeen off the back of 2 defeats I’m choosing to remain optimistic heading into this one. Dons fans don’t seem too keen on their new striker, yengi? Written in the stars that he’ll play a blinder in this one no doubt. If everyone is fit & available I’d go with: Storer Ballantyne Moore Longridge Delaney Taylor Wilson Blues Moffat Crawford Adeloye I know Adeloye frustrates a lot of people but I think currently he is our best option to lead the attack. As I said choosing to remain optimistic. Take them to extra time then see what happens from there.
GIBBYTON Posted August 15 Posted August 15 The club have put out enough posts, but I'm just not excited about the match yet, hopefully that comes tomorrow. Aberdeen should be good for 2,500 - 2,750, I would hope we would have similar numbers, so 5k plus in Cappielow should be a decent atmosphere. So far we have only managed 1 good half in the last few games, we need to get that consistency to see out 90min. The squad does have reasonable ballance, the midfield 2 and 3 have decent options from the bench. Defence has not settled yet, Delaney and Longridge being the obvious 2. I would be keen to move Longridge to LB and bring in Hart, just not sure i would do it against Aberdeen. Hoping the club do another video program like a few weeks ago, that may help get me in the mood. Heart wants 2-1 Morton. Head says 3-1 Aberdeen.
GIBBYTON Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Line up for me would be Storer Ballantyne Moore Longridge Delaney Wilson Blues Crawford Brophy Moffat Adeloye
TopCat Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Not convinced by the idea of Adeloye leading the line when we won't see much of the ball. His target-man play has been pathetic at times in the last few games. Brophy and Moffat up top for an hour, then switch it. 1
dunning1874 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 If there's ever a time for a compact 4-4-1-1/4-1-4-1 with Blues tucking in from the right, it's here. Crowd the midfield as much as possible, and even if two wingers are preferred to that going with Adeloye and Brophy together would be a massive risk. Hopefully the club continues to offer a variation of content, guests etc. There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come

The Bewilderedbeast Posted August 16 Posted August 16 (edited) Yeah greatly enjoying these. In particular thought that the window cleaning display during Dougie's interview was fantastic Edited August 16 by The Bewilderedbeast 1
dunning1874 Posted August 16 Posted August 16 That looks like 4-4-2. Regardless of shape, Wilson dropped for a game like this is wild. Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake Oh Lord, Brian Wake
SpoonTon Posted August 16 Posted August 16 That does look like a wild lineup, especially for a game against a team like Aberdeen. Blues and Crawford will have to do a job they're not so comfortable with in midfield, and hope that all the attacking players keep things tight. That being said, Jim Duffy sometimes put out lineups like this against decent teams with some success (a couple of games Hibs come especially to mind) where the team looks very attacking but plays deep with very little space between the lines and presses very well.
RossMcC1874 Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Nice to see Moffat coming back in quite an attacking line up. Strange Wilson left out. Mon the ton let's do this mob.
Greacen2000 Posted August 16 Posted August 16 The only way this lineup makes sense to me is if Shug is carrying a knock. Very attacking lineup but the midfield does look a bit lightweight - Blues is going to need to put in some shift
GiGi Posted August 16 Posted August 16 This is utterly terrible. Wrong team picked and we're not even close to being in the game. Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'
