Greacen2000 Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I'm ok with us having a few guys in the squad who are taking a step up from league 1. If they have been consistently among the best players at that level then clubs like us should absolutely be seeking out this sort of player. Whether or not they are ex-Morton youth players, local lads, or theres any “evidence” that they are ready for championship football should not factor in to the discussion IMO.

There were a few players who rejected us and dropped a league to go to Falkirk. Ross County will be paying more money than we will.

Ross county will be throwing money at not just getting out of league one but getting them out championship too. If this was a drop to an Airdrie, Hamilton or even queen of the south would feel the same way but Ross county are an abnormal team in these leagues and will want to right the wrongs for this season where they recruited really poorly. Other than on here and the fact he was an ex player out of contract I'm not sure we were ever seriously interested. 1

TRVMP Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Filip Stuparevic signed for IBV in the Icelandic top flight about a month ago. He's yet to score a goal in two starts and three sub appearances and his team is bottom of the league with one point after seven games, 6 goals scored, 20 against. He's probably on decent money there but still, bit of a shanner to drop to what's probably League One standard at best and to play for a team likely to get relegated. I wonder if IBV actually train on Vestmannyaejar (the islands off the south coast that they represent and where they play their home games) or if they're based in Reykjavik. Reykjavik is a great city, pound for pound one of the best in the world for culture, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in Iceland as an expat. Morton

All because they've shown ambition and if Morton would only show ambition we'd obviously double our crowds. Funnily enough, there was no follow up earlier this week when Raith's owner and interim chairman revealed their board had budgeted so badly that they struggled to pay the wages every month from February. This led to the bulk of their board resigning and the remaining members needing to dip into their own pockets to make payroll and avert administration, and so their budget will be reduced next season. I wish Strapp well at his new club, and am relieved that we can finally move on from this constant and bizarre fixation. As for skooshing the league below - that was Ross County's aim when building a squad 12 months ago and it didn't exactly work out for them. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are
