That shit plastic little club deserves significantly more hate than they get. Hopefully they drop like a stone when MacGregor finally fucks off.

While I agree with the sentiment, Livingston threw similar amounts of money around to successfully clamber back out of the second tier just 12 months ago. Sadly it's not really an 'Uncle Roy' problem any more - it's a parachute payment and (beyond fucking nonsense) UEFA 'solidarity payment' problem.

Any top flight club that gets relegated now has the means to essentially dope their way to promotion - and from a business perspective, the reward to risk ratio almost requires them to do so. You'd be mad to not leave a mere half million quid on the table, when top flight football guarantees a much larger return and access to the same trough of nonsense payments if and when you get relegated again.

Add to the mix the elitist con job that was 'Project Brave' - abetted by too many clapping seals who prized international tournament appearances - and the constant drum beat for 'strategic partnerships'/B teams, and it's clear that Scottish club football is going down the shitter in real time.

It may not have been of the highest quality, but there was a fundamental integrity and competitive merit within it (beneath the level of the ugly sisters, and above the non leagues at least) that is now rapidly vanishing from sight.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

This club partnership thing is, imo, a bigger deal than B teams in the LL. Dumbarton being a glorified fives team where whatever Paisley regen rocks up can get a game... doesn't work for me.

Yeah I would rather we didn't buddy up with another club although my concern would be that if clubs do pair up does that mean players can't be loaned to other teams outwith the partnership?

No.

They can have 3 players on their coop list, but they can continue to use the loan system for any other players.

The proof will be in seeing how it works in practice and that lower league clubs aren't effectively blackmailed by the bigger club, but provided the partnerships aren't allowed to grow and grow with ever expanding numbers allowed season on season, I don't think it's necessarily a trojan horse to get B Teams in by the back door by just turning lower league clubs into them.

Three players being the maximum who can move in one cooperation agreement, with them counting towards the limit on total domestic loans which is six, isn't going to turn Dumbarton into St Mirren B. If those numbers were to change to 6/7 in a coop agreement with 10/11 domestic loans allowed making a League Two club's ability to select 11 players dependent on the benevolence of a Premiership club to not recall them all on a whim then that'd be a massive issue, but I don't think a slippery slope is guaranteed here. Interested to see how it works in practice.

Big Roy is fair splashing the cash up there.

Not half. St. Johnstone and Ayr are putting it about as well.

Saints just signed Stevie Mallan and paid a few for Reece McAlear.

Ayr signed Kevin Holt who must have been on a fair wage in NI.

It will eventually comeback and  bite Ayr on the arse when their benefactor pulls the plug the money they are paying in wages if they don't go up.

Mallan should be a top signing for this level if fit - I’m sure he’s been out the game for a year or so though. I’m not convinced the rest of their squad is strong enough overall.

Yeah I'm sure he's had a time of it with injuries. McAlear I think could be a good signing but then they have Tumilty in their side.

Dean Matthew, the third Kemp brother they keep chained in the attic, couldn't even hack it in the modest environment of Troon? Sad!

There was an away game at Stirling Albion where he threw a water bottle at the back of McInally's head after being substituted. Admittedly that was excellent display of interpersonal communication skills.

That was a McInally special. 1-0 up with Stevenson and Templeman playing out their skins and controlling the game, Stirling hadn't laid a glove on us. Double sub made to take Stevenson and Templeman off to be more defensive with Keenan for Stevenson and Linn for Templeman, depriving us of our outball with Linn & McGowan up front, and Stirling immediately took control.

Equaliser came 10 minutes later through Keenan rashly diving in on the edge of the box then Snodgrass putting the freekick in the top corner, so when they then went 2-1 up after another 3 minutes Keenan was the one who was subbed to go more attacking again. Managerial genius.

Former Morton midfielder Joe McKee is apparently about to be announced as part of the coaching team at Morton.

Good wee coach.
