FIFA Registration Ban

There needs to be a club statement on this tonight. With no information on this maybe it is some administrative oversight that they're confident will be fixed in time for the window opening, but it's extremely serious to be hit with a ban regardless of the underlying reason and FIFA have it being in place since 17 March. It's not acceptable that we're only finding out through someone stumbling across it on the FIFA website six weeks after the fact.

Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake

Brian Wake my Lord, Brian Wake

Oh Lord, Brian Wake

That is absolutely wild.

If that has been common knowledge since March and not a word has been said, especially considering our season effectively ended last week then that is fucking shite from the club.

Looks like the proverbial (maybe literal) email landed in the junk folder issue.

I'd have kept quiet and hoped that no-one noticed till it blew over as well if it was me, to be fair.

It's not really on if it's been over a month, though, is it? You need to be on the phone to FIFA with a documented list of times you attempted to contact them, and if they aren't shifting, you tell the fans "okay, we're working on this, here's the steps we've taken."

A week or so of just letting it blow over, fine, but we know what league we're in next season and there's one game to go. Squad planning is underway right now. This has dragged on too long.

Nah, I just meant if it was me - not that I would be doing the right thing! They probably should have been transparent on this.

But I'd be burying it, personally.

Our statement almost sounds like FIFA gave us an incorrect username/password or something and we haven't been able to get a hold of anyone to sort it.

Fresh stain on the floor when I moved in. He may have checked out short of a useful amount of blood.

Yeah I read it as the club are trying to put the blame firmly at FIFA's door.

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

Given our track record on administrative errors I am not inclined to believe much coming from the minerals man and the Board.

For me there are a few issues to be adressed with the statement and sorry for what will end up a rant.

This is the latest issue from the club, it's not the first and again calls into question the day to day running of the club.  Is this a DPM, a specific staff member or a board issue. There is talk of making the club more professional in its approach, I'm not seeing that in the past 12 to 18 months of that rhetoric from the club.

The statement from the club comes across as a poor attempt the blame FIFA, shifting the blame, no statement from MCT calls into question the transparency between the boards and the wider membership and GMFC fan base.  There have been at MCT AGM's calls for both entities to work and be more transparent, what's going on  to make that happen?

Why is that 6 or 7 weeks of the ban in place and coming out now? It's common knowledge there was a deal agreed with Dundee for a GK that fell through, obvious now with hindsight why that was! Also how did the Tele find out?  It's not the first time information has come out from the club.

It was also reported in a few places last week the Dalrada deal was at risk/coming to an end, why no news on that from the club, with what's happened today, that has to be a concern around trying to ignore bad news. Hope I'm wrong on that as there is no way the club could loose 300k to 400k from the budget and stay FT just days from the end of the season.  I would argue the commercial director and team are entirely responsible for not having additional revenue streams in place.

Let's hope this is a storm in a teacup, I don't believe it is (if this i will gladly come back and apologise) and if it's not it's going to be a difficult summer and next season.

If the club had known for 6 or 7 weeks, why would they have agreed and brought a loan keeper down from Dundee last week only to discover they couldn't register him?

All this song and dance over the status of that irrelevant jobber?

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

FIFA issue notices to clubs for any infractions.

What you want to believe is that a governing body with hundreds of administrative staff is wrong over a provincial club with a known laughing stock of a GM and 3 staff doing the job of 4 or 5 people.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion un the absence of any facts from the club or MCT, but I know where my opinion sits.

It's not inherently an either/or option. The idea that any of FIFA's hundreds of administrative staff spend even 0.1% of their time handling such 'provincial clubs' is doubtful. The bigger the organisation, the more scope for issues to fall through the cracks (and for automated systems to just run without much scrutiny).

It's also of course doubtful that GMFC and Mr Minerals could run a bath. Both organisations can be at fault.

I really hope this turns out to be true, if that is the case and they have confirmed they have waived the fee to FIFA, hopefully this gets confirmed and resolved publicly asap

Fair point, and you are correct, it isn't all or nothing

Glad we agree that GMFC have issues around the 'minerals' of their staff

It has been on the FIFA website since Mid March. Someone at the club has known about this and swept it under. There is simply no way we haven’t known about this for several weeks. We have been keeping it quiet until a day like today comes, and we need to say something. Someone has been pulling the strings to keep this quiet, and it all falls at DPM’ door.
