Greenock Morton vs Victim FC

While we are mathematically still in the mix realistically it is over. The same old failings of not taking our chances and conceding a soft goal. As for Tomi he has never been the type of player to run himself into the ground - he just looks like he has come back too soon after injury. At least we made it to the end of March this season normally by now the lads are booking their summer holidays.

Was always going to be a big ask so I’m not too bothered. From where this team was at the beginning of November and to be safe with 6 games to go is an achievement in itself.

Season over for another year

Said as if this is a disgrace with a crap budget and having been gunning it out with Airdrie over the first third of the campaign. A 5th/6th finish is clear overperformance, bring on five meaningless games and give Keay the run out instead.

It is the cups where we should have done better, although missing out on a Challenge Cup final this weekend was mostly down to getting a crap draw.

Boyes' header in the second half was essentially unchallenged at point blank range - he tries to glance it hut doesn't get enough on it, when just planting the fucking thing would be a 90% chance of scoring. After that, we ran out of ideas while also becoming more exposed to the break. Mullen tried an equally stupid punch in the first half and got away with it (while wrongly whinging to the linesman) - that was the warning which he failed to heed.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Stream is very poor. Constantly buffering, picture quality dropping, and a few seconds of action missing every so often. Not quite as bad as the Raith game. Need a better internet connection.

I watched the Raith Rovers game in Leicestershire and the stream was fine.

So frustrating to boss the midfield for 55 mins and have nothing to show for it.  No cutting edge.  Tomi didn’t win the majority of headers and seems to get smaller when he ‘jumps’……

If only we had someone who has youth on his side and has been scoring goals for fun at under 18 level both at league level and captains his country.   Someone who has had two cameos in the men’s team and held his own against Ayr Utd and Hamilton defenders, where he scored a scrappy but tremendous goal.

A ten minute cameo at the end of todays game should have happened.  Tomi was knackered (had cramp on Tue?) and the headlines were there to be written for yesterdays 18th birthday boy.

Dougie - heaven forbid he would play kids.  Stubborn AF as usual.  Shame.

Oh…..why do we still pay Niall F’ck-all Mcginns wages ????????

Let's have some perspective here. Being safe with 6 games to go is a positive. Mullen seems to be turning into a target for some. Once again I'm not having it. He's been fantastic since he joined us and deserves to be cut some slack. Adeloye while not his most effective today has some decent touches and is still our best option in that role. He's also just returned from injury and getting up to speed.

Yes again we are close to the playoffs and don't push on but overall we've had a good season with the players and Dougie doing a really good job. Yes we could look back at the ifs and buts as every team can but let's dare to be realistic!

We still pay McGinn's wages because that is how contracts work. He was one of Imrie's old boy signings that has not paid off - a waste of the limited transfer budget. As for not giving Keay more game time, I share your frustration, even if it appears he is off at the end of the season

Where's Keay off to?

I don't know but the suggestion is his agent has been touting him around to all and sundry. Morton has been clear they will not stand in the way of youth players moving on.

I was close enough to the guy who was giving it to Adeloye. We can see he's not fully sharp yet and it's frustrating when we lose and are crying out for every player to run around with as much energy as Moffat has recently.

I really don't want to sound like the content police for verbalising some discontent when things aren't going well, however, screaming at one of our own players " ADELOYE GET YOUR FINGER OOT...FUCKING LAZY BASTARD...RUN YA CUNT RUN...FUCKING DIDDY" in a quiet corner of the ground for him hear, did feel a bit out of order. Especially as the guy, who looked in his 50s or 60s had a young girl with him who looked no older than 10 years old.

Adeloye pointed at him after the final whistle and walked over to him, neither really backed down     (wasn't helped by Brian Graham being his usual classy self with a big celebratory scream towards the Morton fans there). Couldn't really hear what either of them were shouting at that point apart from the guy in the crowd's last words which were "F**K OFF" as he walked away, while Adeloye was pulled away by other players and a group of other fans tried to applaud him and the other Morton players who'd come over.

Crawford and Blues had to be getting their efforts on target, but they weren’t quite the gilt edged chances Partick were gifted then wasted.

He’s not got a great leap, but he did win three or four in the air. Had a few neat touches to bring others around him in to the game too. On the flip side, he wandered up a few blind alleys, giving the ball away, and looks off the pace - as you’d expect from a guy who’s come back from a long layoff and picked up another injury before getting 100% fit.

All in, a pretty rancid game given the conditions and the galling factor we conceded off the back of a soft free kick  awarded after Graham flung himself to the floor.

Need to disagree here. Partick had a few shots from narrow angles but the only clear chance was when Jakubiak was through and fluffed it. Blues has a good chance but not a sitter, however that Crawford chance is as easy as you’ll ever get, other than touching one in on the goal line. Ball is played flat, unmarked, not running at pace and no pace on the ball. Skies it. An absolute shocker of a miss and he fully knew it as well.

Boyes header is also an absolute sitter. What’s the expected conversion rate on that, 9 times out of 10? It was incredible that we didn’t take the lead today.

Not stand in the way other than holding out for the compensation we'd be due.

Thats what agents are paid to do.

Indeed but as was highlighted at the shareholders AGM it is questionable behaviour to have your client down on trial midweek to a team in England without asking for Morton's prior consent - it turns out our player was not insured to be playing - Morton not the other club sorted it.

That would appear to be the position of the Club.

That’s fair.

Miserable day in most ways. I’m still feeling cold from the soaking I got on the way in!

So what's your solution here?

The player doesn't play unless agreed by his contracted club and inside is sorted?

OK, he didn't play today, seems like we're sorted then.

Solution to what? I am not sure Morton can do much more. I was just pointing out the lad is likely to seek pastures new at the end of the season.  I have no idea if more game time would encourage Keay to stay (I suspect it is unlikely) but I would just like to see young talent viewing Morton as a club who puts them in the shop window.
