Hamilton vs Morton 15th March

Recommended Posts

Two brilliant finishes today 👏🏻 guts shown and grinding out results. If we can get our injured players back it would be nice to have that final push for 4th.

Less said about that 1st half the better. 3-0 wouldnt have been harsh on us.

Miles better second half, how did Davies miss that header??Great finish from Keay. I'd start him next week. Ali Crawford had another good game, showed his class at times today and a cracking free kick.

Partick v Raith on Fri night.  Anything other than a Partick win will do and we can go into those 3 home games with everything to play for.

What was the banner and applause about btw, couldn't see what it said.

A miracle we weren't a couple down at the break. However, our tendency to play one crap half and one decent half shone today, and the subs clearly made an impact. When Davies missed that header I thought we were heading for a point, but that was a lovely finish from Keay. Beauty of a free-kick from Ali Crawford - was almost expecting a pass to the corner flag to wind the clock down.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Well that was a pleasant surprise given how we played for 70 odd minutes. Thought we were absolutely shocking and couldn't believe we went in level at half time. Combination of good defending and poor finishing seen to that. Second half we looked better once Davies, keay and Garrity came on. Great to see the young forward get his first goal and the celebrations. Can see that the whole team are willing the boy to do well. Crawfords fk was on target but I think the keeper should have done better with it.

Definitely think we stole 3 points but will absolutely take them. Next 3 games at home and hopefully we can secure our status in the league at the very least.

Once again an absolutely massive second half improvement. Every sub was the right one and they were all at the right time.

That first goal was absolutely stunning. It's Keay's moment and it should be his alone, a genuinely great finish, it's also a great cross from Garrity, but 95% of that goal is Cammy Ballantyne. Absolutely outrageous to keep that going as long as he did and get a goal out of it.

I genuinely burst out laughing when the second went in. The number of people saying no, pass it into the corner, and Crawford passes it into the back of the net.

That was somehow, despite being really quite bad for at least 65 minutes, an absolutely cracking day.

Brilliant. Had to ride our luck for the majority of that game but we’ve kept ourselves in it and managed to take our chances, delighted for young Keay there and Crawford has deserved that goal as well.

10 points clear of that 9th position with a game in hand, can almost forgive some for looking upwards in the table from this point onwards.

Hamilton are finished after losing that game at home today from such an obviously string position at HT (and they're all atrocious away from home too). I can see Airdrie catching one if not both of them and Dunfermline in the run-in - that performance and result today stank of relegation.

Which would be a terrible, wee shame given the four figure sums they've been chucking at 'Oli Shaw', Todorov, McKinstry etc. We are absolutely safe now because that rabble are not getting more than 6 points.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Lyall deserves great credit for his part in the build up to keays goal. Could argue that Davies, keay and Garrity were contenders for motm but Lyall was my man of the match today.

Think you're overlooking Bannatyne who pretty much shut down that side of the pitch in our dreadful hour, and also created a fair amount once Davies came on in front of him too.

Lyall has been superb recently but was far from his best today. The others played half an hour at most.

Ballantyne defended superbly while we were getting battered, should have had a top class assist for Davies’ sitter, and was key to setting up our first. Motm is an easy choice today.

Upvoted this for the absurd Davies suggestion.

Absurd? He came on and gave us a outlet with his running and work rate as did Garrity although the former was arguably more productive. They changed the game in our favour.

Can see what Soup is saying about lyall being poor but his willingness to always take the ball,be available for a pass and playing forward cannot be looked past.

VT and someone else mentioned ballantyne which is a great shout. Even when we were up against it he was great defensively and when we came into the game in the last 20 he was a threat going forward too.
