HamCam
It is certainly a frustrating time to be a fan, made worse for me as I had hoped the increased budget should have helped us to kick on from last season. The reality is, as VT pointed out, others have also upped the ante and Morton are unable to compete on wages alone. Nonetheless the knee-jerk change in style and head in the sand reaction by Imrie to criticism is hard to swallow. The rest of the season looks like a slog and chances are it will only be the diehards and people with nothing better to do on a Saturday attending games. It just feels like a wasted opportunity. Maybe there were other exchanges between the two that led up to this reaction? If not, that was clearly out of order and the CEO should definitely be having a quiet word with him. There was nothing beforehand, it was just a shout of frustration Let's rock !
GiGi
Won't read too much into Gillespie's reaction. He was doing a bit of headshaking and mean-mugging the away support before the shout that we're behind the team but it needs to be better than this got his back up. Gillespie is a good pro, a very good player and certainly one of Imrie's best and most important signings for Morton. He'll be frustrated at how this season is going. But with all his experience he must know that we're fucking terrible to watch and getting results to match this year. There wasn't anything said up until then that wasn't fair criticism. If that was the case, swearing at a fan and paying customer for something as inoffensive as that is clearly unacceptable in any walk of life. The account of events stated on the previous page directly contradicts that. Try reading it again or do you have some alternative facts at your disposal? The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. AyrshireTon
Had we won on Saturday, we'd have been ball 16, who just got drawn at Ibrox. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. His credit in the bank is long gone, he can get to fuck for all I care now. As can fan ownership. I can't recall a worse time to be a Morton fan, including the Scott years. It just feels like we're withering away. Morton sold their soul to the devil when they signed Alan Lithgow. You reap what you sow.

Cat10
Fans offended by this need to grow up. Too many fans think they can shout and swear what they want to players but the minute a player or manager does it back then all hell breaks…. According to those in earshot, the fan shouted 'clear your fucking lines' or words to that effect, to which Dougie told him to 'fuck up'. If the fan had shouted 'clear your fucking lines ya fucking dick!' or something similar, Dougie's response would have been completely understandable. But the fan wasn't being personally abusive, so IMO it did not warrant being told to fuck up. I know you'll respond to this with some further comment, but to save the rest of the contributors on this esteemed forum from terminal boredom, I'll make this my last post on the subject. So you can chalk this up as yet another victory in your never-ending conquest of boring into submission anyone you disagree with. Well played, champ! If someone shouted at a shop worker to 'fucking scan the items quicker' then they'd be getting huckled out of the store and (lol wut) criminally prosecuted under a special category of offence soon enough. Football fans - quite rightly - enjoy a licence that others do not to express their views. But if you're big enough to give it out you have to be big enough to take it as well. That goes for foul language, where you can't suddenly turn into a swooning Victorian lady or (lol wut) call for a sternly worded intervention by a useless GM if the manager returns the exact same compliment. Imrie shouldn't be dragging himself into it because it achieves nothing good for himself or his team. But to complain about the tone of his intervention is the sort of utter hypocrisy that gives football supporters a bad name.
