Rossco1874 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Brechin fan on Reddit posted he enjoyed his 1st visit to Cappielow however mentioned he heard one of the stewards make a racist joke about Morton winger. He later replied that someone gave him the details to report this to the club & Dale replied to him. Assuming this is also part of what Dale's statement was about as it mentioned incidents.

There's nowhere in cowshed or sinclair st to change him as was required. I went to the gate far end of Sinclair Street at main stand end to get through to main stand and was told no i couldnt get over. Told them i need to change him but was met with "should be bringing a 1 year old to the football" TIME FOR CHANGE!

port-ton Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Tele saying we are sweating over the fitness of Boyes and Baird for tomorrow. also confirms that Corr dislocated his shoulder again in training but he should be back on the bench tomorrow and that Shaw will be back for league games as they are protecting his hamstring injury from last season. Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things! Â
Ferguson Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I too am sweating over the fitness of Baird and Boyes, could be a long day with Wilson and Broadfoot as our back 2. Pleased to hear that Corr is available, St Johnstone have some fast, nimble strikers and he's probably best equipped to deal with that. Not going into this game with much confidence but you never know. Under Imrie we've always competed very well with top flight teams with a drubbing from Ange's Celtic being the only exception, but this looks a yard or 2 short of an Imrie team just now.
Boogs49 Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Baird was booked in both games, against EF and Brechin, so he will be suspended for game tomorrow.

Very lucky not to have been sent off the other night. That’s been pretty serious flashpoints against Airdrie, Ayr and Dundee United towards the end of last season, and Brechin at the start of this. Given our disciplinary record last season, I’d like to think it’s something we’re working on improving, but Baird seems to have gone off the rails a bit in recent times. This was never something I previously saw in his character.
dunning1874 Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 If Baird's suspended then unless both Boyes and Corr are fit to start I'd put Blues at right back, Ballantyne to left back and Delaney to centre back. Our strongest sitting midfield two just now on the evidence we've seen so far is Wilson and Gillespie anyway, so you wouldn't be weakening the midfield by putting Blues in defence and we can't be removing Wilson from there. If both Boyes and Corr miss out then that's Delaney beside Broadfoot as we've no alternatives, if one of them makes it then Broadfoot on the bench. Blues at right back v Josh McPake is a less concerning prospect than Broadfoot at centre back v Adama Sidibeh. AyrshireTon Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Be interesting to see if we adopt the same "endless passes about at the back shitfest" when we are the team from the lower league, as opposed to the team who were meant to be attacking. Allan McGraw championed "football from the back" as the way to get us out of the 2nd Division in 94-95, until choruses of "What a load of rubbish" one hour into the opening game against Berwick saw it immediately binned, never to return. I have no desire to see it again. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

I have no desire to see it again. I felt like the lineup on Tuesday was a bit of an experimental one given the level of opponent. I was actually impressed enough by Lyall, but I can't see that working with him on his own in the deeper midfield role against Championship level opposition. It was a kind of Billy Gilmour type role, and I don't know if that's what Imrie had in mind for him, but Blues and Moffat (with 2 fairly detached wingers) doesn't seem like the balance to support that (unless you're very, very good). I think the key to playing a bit more football through the team is to have at least one good player on the ball in a wider position, so that we don't always have to play through dangerous areas of the pitch. My impression is that we can only play 2 or 3 of the 5 midfielders we had starting on Tuesday.Â
