Ferguson
Blues, Wilson and Gillespie isn't a terrible midfield base to build from as long as we bring in players good enough to replace Crawford and Power. Gillespie isn't one who should be playing every week, but the other 2 are sound Championship players and can offer cover in multiple positions. Blues played 35 league games last season and didn’t score a single goal while registering only 3 assists. Wilson played 25 in the league, scoring 1 while Gillespie played in 29 league games and scored only 2. Wilsons overall ability means he should play every week, but Blues and Gillespie should be nowhere near the team next season if we are to make any improvements - both should be used as squad players, which may very well be Imries plans but I doubt it as he has a hard-on for Blues Need to get the cheque book out. If he's there to play on a consistent basis, we're gubbed. This.

Pre-contract, which I assume means he’s contracted until the end of May or June. If that’s the case, get him painting the crush barriers in the Cowshed and deep cleaning the bogs until it expires.

LargsTON
We're headed for league 1 as it stands. I've zero optimism for the new season and if anyone does I admire their delusion. 1 "CORNBEEF IS A BELLEND"

Alibi
Can’t understand keeping Broadfoot, but I suppose compared to Stanley Matthews, he’s still quite young. Maybe he’ll replace Oakley up front as he does score a few. As it stands aye it's not pretty, but we've only got 9 players signed up with 7 weeks until any meaningful football is played. Will reserve my judgement until we've got something that resembles a starting 11 at least.
Popular Post TopCat
Livi have had a similar clearout to us, Airdrie have had their promotion bounce, Hamilton are unlikely to be brilliant, Ayr are Ayr, Queens Park appear locked in a permashambles behind the scenes. Partick and Raith will likely lose players to the bottom 6. We've still got about 10 players to sign and its only May. The players we've lost weren't irreplaceable superstars at this level, and I include Strapp and Oakley in that.

Aye but the problem is the ones we've lost or look like losing are the ones we wanted to retain and the ones we've retained are the ones that shouldn't have been hard to replace. Imrie will need to work some magic here. As a caveat I was 8 pints deep posting last night so I'm not as worried with sober thoughts. 1 "CORNBEEF IS A BELLEND"

SpoonTon
Really pleased that Blues had signed a 2 year deal. He's reliable in a number of roles and compliments other players well. He needs good players around him, he's not a game changer, but we absolutely need players like him in the squad.
Hej
Happy with that. A known quantity at this level. Important that we keep a solid core of last seasons team and not require a complete rebuild in the summer.

Broadly agree with that. I'd say they're better-than-average at Championship level but would probably struggle at Premiership level. So although they're not irreplaceable, it won't be an easy task if our budget is significantly lower than our direct competitors, as some are suggesting. Popular Post Chicken_Soup
Fantastic news regarding Blues. Compliments Wilson well in midfield, barely misses a game and covers multiple positions. Thankfully those who seem unwilling to appreciate how much he’s improved in his years with us appear to be in an ever decreasing minority.
Alibi
I'd like to see Blues popping up with some goals like he used to do, but other than that he's a much-improved player since he first arrived, and his fitness and work rate seem excellent.
