There's a yawning gap between the centre backs and the midfield - their tactic is to play the ball into that space and either turn or lay it off to midfield runners. Either Baird and Ambrose need to push up or the midfield needs to drop back and that problem can be solved.

^^^ kenned the score and that problem was solved

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

First half saw that turn into a bit of a banana skin. A draw was probably fair at half time as Queens looked 😳 on the counter. Second half it took us a while ti get going but what a freekick from Robbie. Stonewall pen for the 3rd and the 4th was a cracker from the ginger Messi. Good days work. Well done Dougie and the boys.

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

He cant help scoring... goal of the day says Chick Young.

Well it was until the final minute. 2 contenders now.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Can’t wait to see King’s goal. I’m told it was something special.

Muirhead's free-kick only made up for the header that he should have buried at the far post earlier in the second half.

But he was excellent today and ran them ragged. The transformation in his game has been wild and you can see how important confidence is to that. Also a superb free kick cross in the first half that nobody gambled on.

Schwake also did excellent handling crosses under the conditions today. Might need a wee bit more work kicking into the wind before Arbroath on Saturday.

Anyone notice Strapps reaction towards the shed at the end.

Hope he was just waving to someone he knew😟

Given that the transfer window doesn't open until January, and we've got at least one home game between now and then (QP on the 17th of December), along with three away games, it'd be an odd time for a farewell.

Really surprised to see Dougie criticising the pitch today. I didn’t notice it making any difference on the players, it maybe looked a big patchy but understandably given the weather over the past few weeks.

It was definitely cutting up, I remember seeing one of our defenders gouging away at a spot near the edge of our penalty box in the closing stages. The conditions were dreadful and the background of weeks of crap weather is definitely a mitigating circumstance though.

FWIW weekly variation on a grass pitch is inevitable at the hands of shite weather (as @vikingTON says) - but the only alternative is to rip it up and lay a plastic one. Grass pitches somehow seem more proper and real. But as someone who grew up watching Derby County become English champions in 1972 playing all of their home games in a swamp, maybe my judgement is rose-tinted and clouded. To me - a substandard pitch is a a substandard pitch for both teams, not just the away or home one.

Unfortunately didn't make the game, but that's a very convincing win against a team that could have been capable of causing us a lot of problems. Whilst "nobody will want to come here", "tough place to go" etc are well-worn clichés in football, and cups in particular, I'd imagine it'll be very much the case with us.

Whilst we've always been a tough proposition at home under Dougie, we've came on leaps and bounds over the last few months and are now a genuinely very good team beyond just making life difficult for opponents. If we were to get a home draw in the next round, there won't be a team in the country* who won't be worried about it and there's not a team we shouldn't fancy our chances against either. I doubt most teams would be particularly relaxed about getting us at their place either, for that matter.

*If a team with Jonathan Page and Tony Wallace can beat Celtic at Parkhead, just think what kind of humiliation the Imrie juggernaut would inflict upon them.

ETA: Great to hear Dougie talking about wanting a home tie too. Always frustrates me when you hear people going on about wanting Rangers or Celtic away in a cup draw (was a bit disappointing to have Andy Ritchie using the prospect of drawing one of them in his wee video to promote the game, tbh) or even enthusing about getting those draws - fuck that, it's as good as writing off the idea of being in it to win it. Obviously I get the attraction etc, but a trip to one of those pair is small fry compared to the easiest route to the final as you can get especially when we're in the position we are now.

As is now the norm BBC Sports Scotland show their disinterest in anything that doesn't involve the 2 nameless ones.

'Defender Aaron Muirhead also grabbed a double as Greenock Morton eased aside Queen of the South 4-1'

fuck you very much BBC.

• The Famous sitting 2nd in the Championship and the team that absolutely nobody wants to draw in the Scottish Cup 4th Round on Monday.

• Nine games unbeaten: seven wins, with the only two draws being away at Ayr (1) and Dundee (3).

• Sir Efe Ambrose at the club lending oceans of stabilising calm to the rearguard on a weekly basis.

• Robbie Muirhead playing like 2006 Zlatan.

• And then an 18 year old comes off the bench and hurdles more challenges than Maradona did for that goal against England, before slotting home this afternoon.

A script like this would get chucked out of the tritest Hollywood studio for being make-believe nonsense. What a time to be alive.

The annoying thing is Hokpkin(s) said he'd come into his own if played up top. Pity he played him left back.

Who would direct said blockbuster? I'd love to see what Speilberg could do with a slo-mo shot of the tears and snotters of away fans but Quentin Tarantino could serve up a right bloodbath with some of the doings we've been handing out.
