We're well pinned back so far. Lonely afternoon for big Gozie.

Aaand there it is, 1-0 Thistle. That's been coming. If you can't hold the ball you invite pressure, and if you invite pressure you concede.

Whoever was on the back post seemed to try to avoid blocking it.

I didn't see that personally, but in any case the damage was done before that. For the first 11 minutes we effectively had no midfield, completely overrun. We've found a bit more presence in the middle now but the warning signs are all there.

Didn't get a replay on but thought it looked like a fairly easy clearance. Might be being a bit harsh.

But, aye, it's been coming. Not too dissimilar to a lot of what happened last season under Gus so not particularly surprising.

Impressive even by Morton's standards for us to turn 'ball up to Ugwu = useful option' into 'Plan A, B and C' already this season. Thereby removing most of the threat because it's so fucking predictable you could run a timetable.

The midfield is roomy enough to hide four gutless and disinterested Gary Olivers instead of the one we've got.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

The one area we’re apparently not looking for bodies in is midfield. We cannot possibly persist with this setup the rest of the season.

They're creating nothing out of midfield.  Just reacting (or trying to).  Have to feel sorry for Ugwu.  No service worth speaking of.  Poor bugger's so bored of waiting he's running back way out of position to get involved.

This is the complete opposite of Hamilton game. We aren't good enough in midfield to have an extra man so we are chasing shadows.

Need to get Muirhead on second half and give gozie more room to create stuff.

No idea why mcphereon changed the system he had against Hamilton, it was the perfect system for a weaker team.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

We were chasing shadows for much of the first half at Hamilton, with a similarly hopeless midfield display. We just got fortunate that our hopeless set-piece defending wasn't punished (the Blues nearly o.g) and then scored with our first meaningful attack.

The same issues have been present in the past three games. Hopeless set-piece defending, hopeless set-piece attacking - that short free kick from 20 yards out instead of just hitting the thing - and a midfield that isn't up to scratch.

No midfield and Gozie only seems to want to get involved if the ball is within a yard of him.

They missed a really good chance at the end of the half. We’ve not turned up.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Desperately hoping this is one of them game of two halves as we have done nothing of note in the first 45. Midfield has been very poor with zero bite or creativity and big Gozie looking like he's on a mission to nothing. Jags worth their lead and probably deserve more.

Gus has got to get a grip or we'll continue chasing shadows. Not good enough.

Midfield did at least pick up a bit 2nd half at Hamilton.  Not sure how, but there was a more even contest after the break.  So here's hoping.  Can't carry on like this for another 45 mins.
