Hamilton has been superb so far, has to be man of the match there despite how good Ugwu was. Entirely getting it up doubters like me so far.

Hamilton looks like a major upgrade on Macadams. Takes crosses confidently. No mistakes so far. Seems to be happy to come off his line when maybe better to leave things to the defence but he looks assured and solid so far.

Gozie Ugwu is also a right handful. Great goal from what it has to be said was a terrific ball over the top by Blues. Shows Muirhead up for the waste of space he is most of the time.

Need to stop giving away needless fouls.

Not a massive fan of the 4-0-2 formation, if I'm honest.  Winning games would be so much easier with a midfield, but a win's a win.  Frustrating to watch at times, but a good day out all the same.

Lumping it forward can work, but generally works best when you've got a pair of hulks up front who know how to hold up the ball and create a bit of time.  And neither Ugwu or Muirhead struck me as that kind of player.

Plenty of guts & determination from Hamilton & his defence.  Can't argue with a clean sheet away from home.

4-0-2?

Ugwu held the ball up really well and never gave their defence a moments peace...

You're right.  Sorry...probably overplayed the point.  And the assist was special, definitely.  But there's def room for improvement on that part of the pitch.

Room for improvement all over the pitch but I'd say that the midfield worked pretty hard particularly Jacobs and blues defensively. McGregor was poor and it's clear that Russell needs to start or reinforcements are brought in. I'd defy like to see another cm and a winger come in. Also a forward or two and a centre half.

We weren't playing with a back four. Hamilton's only real strength is in the middle of the park - it has been for 15 years on and off - while we're not great there. Should we add a quality central midfielder? Absolutely. But there's more than one way to win a football game and Morton demonstrated that ability today, while Hamilton largely flailed around doing nothing.

We'll need to play both through the middle of the park and the quick ball forward to do well over the whole season, but today demonstrated that we can beat up all the gubbins tippy-tapping pressing teams in the meantime by just bypassing them.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Not getting much right here, am I?  : )

What was it, then?  Looked like a back 4 to me, even if Strapp & Hynes were pushing up a bit.

Hynes and McGregor as wing backs, Ledger and Strapp either side of Lithgow in the back three.

Hamilton looked a lot more convincing than McAdams and we were more solid than last season. It was terrible in the first half but if we get the four signings that's been mentioned it should be a much better season than last.

Terrible is hugely overstating it. Ropey first fifteen minutes, granted, then we restricted Hamilton to a lot of central possession and naff all to show for it. Cammy "Camoranesi" Blues then set up Ugwu for a great finish and from there on it was just a case of seeing the game out. Jack Hamilton was called into action a lot, granted, but it was hardly smash and grab, even at half time.

I'd disagree and say it was a smash and grab.

Finally doing what Hopkin was supposedly the master at.
