Only thing for me is he's a defensive midfielder and we have options there  already in Jacobs and Blues who he seems to rate.

If we are signing only one centre mid, I'd rather he had a more attacking, creative threat, especially if Lyon isn't fancied. A tidser type would be ideal

A midfield of him, Blues and Jacobs would have no creativity.

Good player though and if we do manage to get him, he would be a good addition

Would agree with this, but this could maybe give him the option to use him and jacobs as the two sitting and allow Oliver to play in behind the striker and be that creative spark. Also allows us to take blues out the team, although he’s been slowly improving I’d like to think we can get better.

He persevered with McGinn and Jacobs sitting in last year when it wasn't working and everyone else was getting frustrated since we couldn't create. Wouldn't be surprised if that's just what he likes since it makes the team hard to break down.

As soon as other clubs are interested in players you can forget it.

Which is why we need to establish a scouting network and/or managerial contacts, that extend beyond the shallowest of ponds that is 'Scottish professional footballers (specialism in former spoon-burners)'.

Until then, whenever players or their agents start humming and hawing about their options, we need to already be lining up someone else.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

He will probably play a blinder on Saturday too.

What's that? Over a month without a signing? Just pathetic, it really is. The most embarassing full time side in the country.

Results have been okay but any optimism I had going forward this season has completely diminished.

Personally I think MCT (and Crawford)have a lot to answer for. This should've been a time to be optimistic. Fans back, new ownership, new era. Instead it's the same shite as always.

We are a joke of a club thanks to Crawford Rae no decent players would touch us now. MCT have a hell of a job trying to fix the damage that has been done.

It's not Crawford Rae's fault that the manager we appointed in the summer has only the same limited set of targets as the rest of the division.

If you are at the bottom of a seller's market then you need to find a different market to operate in. The club as a whole have tried to kick that can down the road for another year (arguably two given the contracts already handed out) and so here we are.

I would be surprised if Gus' contacts were as up-to-date as some of the other managers in our division as well. I know he will of course have plenty of contacts but will he really have more useful ones at any club bar St Mirren than the other managers in our division, most of whom have more recent experience working in the premiership or down south.

Crawford isn't running the club and he didn't appoint gus going by everything we've been told.

I feel bad for how much I've started criticising MCT. I still have my subscription and really do appreciate how much work a lot of volunteers have put in. However, as you say there's a lot of questions to answer and I've never seen any championship club be as inactive as we have been in terms of signing players.

Unfortunately, when they're in control of your football club (or at least about to be), they're always going to get the short end of the stick, especially when things aren't going well.

They've made some good additions to non playing staff in the past few days, ones that hopefully will improve the us behind the scenes.

Im worried we've pushed the boat out on a few players, Lithgow and Ugwu on particular and have not much left in our already small budget.

But yet he somehow 'deserved' the chance to build his own squad in the eyes of many.

The reality of our world is Hamilton offered a transfer while the best we could put together, having checked down the back of the hospitality sofas, was a short-term loan - I wonder which one was more attractive to Aberdeen? We are bottom-feeders and likely only to get the players others are not interested in.

The Tele reports that Morton dropped their interest weeks ago. If so then that's good, but given the lack of progress towards other targets in the weeks since it smacks of an 'och we didn't want him anyway' face-saving exercise.

If we dropped our interests weeks ago (don't believe that) then it would most likely have been because he told us he had no interest in joining.

I'd like us to go for that Owen Moffat at Celtic. Postecoglu was impressed during pre season and from highlights I've seen he's playing well for the "B" team. Reminds me of Paul McGowan a bit in his style minus the electronic tag around his ankle.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

Best part of this shitfest transfer window is that Gus was a scout before he came in so will have watched loads of football across all different levels and what do we have to show for it, 4 players in nearly 3 months with one being an ex player looking to return home.

Incredible.

Moffat is a good shout, my neighbour is his uncle who raves about him and thinks he should be in first team squad. Seen recent clips of him and he seems to play down the left cutting in on his stronger right foot. Quite small but a strong build good technical ability and has goals in him.
