We're apparently about 4 weeks behind Italy, and 10-14 weeks away from the peak of this. The early part of summer will come with it's own complications.

If we're being realistic, in that sense, if we delay now then it's unlikely that we can finish this season before next season begins.

That's all complete guesswork though: the impact could just as easily turn out to be less severe in the UK , either due to improving weather conditions or other factors that we can't pin down yet. So you keep your powder dry for the time being - postpone the remaining fixtures - and take further action in late May/June if it is required. If on the other hand we've all gotten over the shrieking, Victorian hysterics about a glorified cold by then the disruption will have been successfully minimised.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

The sauce table is our Wuhan wet market.

The Cowshed isn't a concern but the Sinclair Street Bridge is, the turnstiles are, the pie queue is...

Regarding it being impractical, yeah, it's also impractical for the hospitality and travel industries to have a global pandemic, yet they have one.

The stadium was just resting in my account

If you're in the Greenock/Glasgow area you're in one of the worst possible spots for the spread over the next few weeks, in terms of both climate and population density. Add an aging population to the equation and I'd be significantly less sanguine if I were you.

Allowing one team to play two games within a few days before some arbitrary date for banning crowds a fraction of the sizes of those games is absolutely bizarre and unjustifiable. How many people are going to be at games or gigs before Monday night with well over 500 people?

The response across the board in the UK hasn't been anywhere close to competent or appropriate.

The risk of Coronavirus spreading at Cappielow would be greatly reduced if we rid ourselves of that fucking sauce table in the Cowshed.

Coronavirus would be the least of my worries on what i could catch from that preposterous monstrosity.

Fuxake Iron Man. Where was our futuristic, electronic sauce table?

It's fine, the Cowshed can be classed as a separate gathering from the Main Stand. Game on.

Just keep the manky bumpkins from away supports in their own wee sterile area - preferably in the car park.

The WDE has sufficient open air for a public gathering, particularly when the horizontal hailstones are roaring across it.

An official post was made on the website but sadly it seems the virus got to it as the website cannot be accessed. Anyone have it open and can paste the contents on here?

Edit: it finally loaded, here is what it says:

"SUPPORTERS will be aware of the ongoing situation with COVID-19 and will have concerns over the impact the virus will have. We would like to update fans regarding the upcoming match and additional safety measures that the Club has imposed.

The Club has taken additional safety measures including adding extra washing gels in all public toilets. Coronavirus safety information has also been displayed around the stadium.

While there is every likelihood that feeling under the weather may be cold or flu, it is imperative that we protect the health and wellbeing of all these who attend the game and we cannot take any risks. Anyone feeling unwell may decide to stay at home and follow the game on the various media options.

Safety advice includes:

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.

Always wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available.

Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards.

Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

Symptoms:

The following symptoms may develop in the 14 days after exposure to someone who has COVID-19 infection:

cough

difficulty in breathing

fever

Generally, these infections can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease

How COVID-19 is spread:

From what we know about other coronaviruses, spread of COVID-19 is most likely to happen when there is close contact (within 2 metres or less) with an infected person. It is likely that the risk increases the longer someone has close contact with an infected person.

Respiratory secretions produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes containing the virus are most likely to be the main means of transmission

There are 2 main routes by which people can spread COVID-19:

Infection can be spread to people who are nearby (within 2 metres) or possibly could be inhaled into the lungs.

It is also possible that someone may become infected by touching a surface, object or the hand of an infected person that has been contaminated with respiratory secretions and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes (such as touching door knob or shaking hands then touching own face)

There is currently little evidence that people who are without symptoms are infectious to others.

If you are worried about symptoms, please call NHS 111. Do not go directly to your GP or other healthcare environment.

If you become unwell at the game contact a steward who will take you to a room to isolate yourself away from others."

That final sentence is bloody phenomenal.

If you become unwell at the game, sneeze all over a steward, and we'll lock you both in that wee room for the blind commentators for three weeks.

Not sure that's true? There seems to be evidence that it's very rare, but there are confirmed cases of its happening.

Not sure anyone should be taking health advice from an organisation that routinely fucks up the simplest things in their remit.

In fairness it's copy-pasted. From where I'm not sure. But they didn't write this (except the last line, as I don't think the WHO have stewards or wee rooms for them to take sick people to.)

Will there be hot water to wash our hands?

If you ask nicely at the pie stall they may give you a cup of hot water.

Matt Hancock got a large amount of well deserved ridicule for stating hot water was needed to kill germs the other day. If we were all heating water to a temperature capable of actual germ killing the NHS would be overrun trying to treat burn victims.

P.S. Not that it wouldn’t be nice to have warm water and an effective way to dry your hands in the cowshed loos.

It obviously doesn't kill bacteria but it's still more effective at actual cleansing, as anyone who's ever washed dishes can tell you. So if your hands are actually dirty, it's much better.

Y'see, when you are richer than everyone else you can simply pull down the shutters for a few months till everything dies down.

None of this 'But we need immigrants to devalue our working class and do shite jobs that nobody else wants' just relax and don't let anyone in and look after your own.

I will make it through the day and then the day becomes the night,

will make it through the night.

Let's face it, if anyone is going to catch a life threatening disease at a Morton game, it's going to be from the Norseman.

Those weirdos on the 'other' forum will be racking their turd-like brains to come up with SOOP puns after reading that.

will make it through the night.
