capitanus
If there’s no games and the club is effectively closed for business then there’s no full time media duty to be carried out. Exactly. Maintain radio silence. If you’re found to be doing work voluntarily that benefits your employer it’s a breach. Exactly. Maintain radio silence. The options are: Retain a full time wage to produce a YouTube video a couple of times a week. Have no media output at all. Exactly. Maintain radio silence. The argument should be why is voluntary produced content being put out under the clubs official media channels. Exactly. Maintain radio silence. Keep the clubs official broadcast channels open for important announcements only from the Chief Executive and/or any other management team. If it's not important, maintain radio silence. Get this scummer to fuck away from our official media platforms. Nail hit firmly on the head. The fans aren't stupid, nor are we unreasonable. We realise the financial constraints the club is under and how these are trying times. This isn't Liverpool, we accept furlough is the only reasonable action the club can take. We also realise that by putting folk on furlough, then it'll have an impact on the club's operations. If media output disappearing for the duration then so be it. The club's social media platforms should only be used to provide essential information at this time, not to give a guy an opportunity to write his CV out in public whilst the poor sod who was in a job is sitting twiddling his thumbs. One thing Morton are honest with us all about is that they are prepared to cut corners to save money. Having a boy that's openly prepared to do a job for nothing that someone is on the payroll for will likely only have one outcome in the long term. Getting 80% of his wage in the meantime isn't really much consolation if he's made redundant because someone else is prepared to take on the role to further his reputation and career. The irony for this lad Callum is that all he's doing for his reputation is damaging it.

Toby
Just seems like self indulgent bollocks. Yep, it completely lacks self-awareness. He considered giving up on his dream today? Boohoo, what about the poor lad who's going through university and working for his boyhood club, but has no idea whether he'll have a job to return to? No consideration for him, his feelings or his future whatsoever. But heaven forbid that anyone dares criticise his behaviour or question his motives in taking up such a role. I questioned on the podcast thread a while back whether having had mental health issues mean that a person is beyond reproach as a result. There have been the odd shouts of "scab" at him, but most complaints have been well put and relevant. Even labelling him a "scab" isn't completely unreasonable in the context of his behaviour. There's been no display of contrition at all. He hasn't at any point addressed why people could see his behaviour as predatory and are offended by it. No, it's all about him, and the impact that this has had on poor little Callum. I'm sorry, but he's left far too many unanswered questions. To bring Caroline Flack, Boris Johnson and the NHS into his argument is an insult to the intelligence of those criticising him. The boy's absolutely shameless. Always the victim and it's never his fault, which isn't uncommon in Celtic fans.

dunning1874
This is really bad form from all involved. I can appreciate that there wasn't malice intended from either the club or the person volunteering to do the job of a furloughed member of staff for free; the club are seeing a way of maintaining an online presence during an abnormal and difficult situation and the volunteer is looking to do the club a favour during that difficult situation. In that context it's believable that both parties genuinely hadn't considered how bad this might look, from the club in what it says about how they're treating their own furloughed staff and the faith they're engaging in the furlough scheme with in the first place - the point isn't to get the government to cover your costs while someone else carries on working for you for free - and from the volunteer in doing someone else's job when the paid employee hasn't had the choice to continue in the role. That's one issue and if you're feeling charitable you can give the benefit of the doubt on all of that, but to have that other perspective pointed out to you then put out a response which not only doesn't accept that people could have a different perspective but actually fails to address any of those points at all or even mention the furloughed employee is another issue entirely. That's beyond myopic and it's not a good look. EanieMeany
Extremely poor on all fronts, especially snaking your way into somebody else’s job. Surely MacKinnon could have took over the accounts to post any essential information instead of having some self-aggrandising wee guy involved? Obviously put up by our new social media volunteer. It's the sort of ambulance chasing that you expect from a Liverpool or Celtic fan (oh wait...) which doesn't actually mean anything. But as I said, the boy has absolutely no self awareness, so it's little surprise that this is the sort of gimmick that he thinks will get folk onside with him. Of course though, it's a hot topic, so anyone who has the temerity to criticise him for this sort of stuff will be rounded on for not caring enough by the Facebook maws of this world.
