Perhaps we simply can't afford a DoF, but that's probably a result of getting so many other things wrong. Seems we're living on the bread line. The Q&A suggested we basically can't afford to sack Gus so i highly doubt we've got the cash spare for a DoF of any credibility. Even shunting Gus into that position leaves funding required for a new manager.

MCT should watch the programme making Macclesfield about how to reconnect with the community.

For all the difference it will make, they should watch re-runs of the Vicar of Dibley on UK Gold.

Amidst all of this talk of having a 'Sporting Director' or 'Director of Football' at Morton, nobody has mentioned that when MCT were hawking their half baked idea around any media outlet that would have them, they made a big deal about having former manager Alan McGraw involved in a Football consultant capacity.  Others as well if I recall correctly.  What exactly are they consulting on, if anything?

Not saying that he would be the best possible candidate for such a role, but of the former players involved in the 'Leadership Team' in such a capacity, why are none on the board of directors?

If I remember correctly the final payment for direct debit MCT discount season tickets was to be taken in November? If so it would be interesting to see if there are any drop offs in memberships now that all financial costs of those members have been paid.

I'll continue paying my monthly tenner for now, but now my financial obligation to MCT is over, I'll only be continuing it if the Morton board get their act together. Any more missteps without any tangible evidence of progress and I refuse to continue funding this incompetence.

Speaks quite well so maybe a bit of positivity. Will be interesting to see where this leads to.

If nothing else it's someone willing to show his face and take some accountability. On a slightly related point, our General Manager seems to be invisible - had hoped he'd be a bit more vocal but not sure what he does or is doing.

Alternative view - it's a wild time to be sticking out what was essentially a 'we need more, join us and give us your money' shout.

We're a struggling championship club without a wealthy backer. It's always time to be looking for money.

If someone joined the board of MCT and wasn't looking at ways to build up membership then questions should be asked. In this case he's spoke about his experience, improving engagement and gave a commitment to doing stuff rather than just having a begging bowl out so fair play to him.

Give us more money (fine by itself as its clearly needed) but in return we won't bother our arse to do anything tangible to try and get results on the park or make the football more attractive, thus potentially encouraging folk to sign up.

Some strategy.

The club is run separately from MCT though. From that short clip it looks like someone from MCT is finally starting to look at engaging with fans and members.

MCT might have the ability to change the Morton board through the way things are set up but can't, and shouldn't, be directly influencing footballing decisions whenever they feel like it.

It's not their job make footballing decisions and there's a clear distinction between both organisations. Clearly things on the park are pretty grim but MCTs role should be to influence and change how the club is run on behalf of its shareholders (the MCT members). If a club director is responsible for footballing decisions then it is up to MCT to change that but I'm guessing the articles and governance don't make it simple and there will be a term associated with board roles.

MCT having better engagement with fans and members (with the club involved) should see improvements all round over time whether that be a stronger collective member voice to change the board at the club or increasing money available for the club to spend through as members stay/ increase because they're happy they are being represented.

I'm not particularly happy with how the club has been run, and certainly not the results, but we need to appreciate MCT do not run the club.

Not too sure what he's done behind the scenes, and I appreciate he's been part time, but would have expected him to be more visible than he has been so far. One short interview isn't really enough to get the fans on side and get a bit of support for himself.

A quick update every couple of weeks to say what has been done, what's being done and what's planned would go a long way at a time of transition and when we solely rely on fan backing. I'm a bit concerned that this doesn't seem to have been recognised as something with high value for not a lot of effort.

The board should be doing this too but I don't think there's any excuses for the paid employee who's role is overseeing club operations not to be more visible to the people paying his wages.

Hopefully being full time (and presumably being paid to reflect the role) changes this.

Glad he's being promoted and paid full time now, especially as the article sounds like he's been doing that role on the cheap anyway. Hopefully he's managed to get his worth and he is further motivated to improve us off the park.

I agree that he's been barely visible since getting the role. That's not to say he hasn't been doing anything or been run off his feet but now he's CEO there will be no excuses for not engaging more with the fanbase.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

The upgrade to having an employee on a real contract as well as the supporters' survey are steps forward.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

I never really saw his role like that. For me, the GM role was a bit more low key. I think with a part-time role, on that salary, you’re asking a bit much of someone to come out and front up to thousands of people and effectively act like a CEO. Having him in the firing line in that role never quite sat right with me.

Good on him on the promotion. Looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the club in his new role. And yes, I’d expect to hear a bit more from him now.

Agree to an extent. I suppose the problem is the board left that gap where there wasn't really anyone to speak for the club.

That said, I think it would have made his role a lot more easy and he'd have got more support if he was a bit more visible and accessible to the customer.

Either way, this new role means we've got someone in place to do that without the grey area we're debating. It's got to be a part of the remit now.

Any of this sound familiar?

 Dodging tough decisions

▪️ Inconsistent man-management

▪️ Baffling selections

▪️ Amateurish matchday preparations

Solskjaer's soft management turned United players against each other #mufc https://t.co/ppPkm36UOA It's not gambling or betting, of course, but it's still not very pleasant. By the way, good casino reviews can be found at https://betpokies.com - I recommend it! There you can read great articles that will help you not to lose money.

The complete set :) Gentle guidance is only needed in a knitting or painting club. In men's sports, softness only hurts.
