Alan_Partridge_Ton
Give money to MCT? Wish I could afford to give money to MCT! I can afford it, I’ve got a six figure income.
MCT Team
What happens if they don't convert their pledges to payments, and the cub are saddled with players on contracts that they can't afford? Will Golden Casket be expected to make up the shortfall? Surely the best case scenario would be to withhold all monies until say, 1st June 2020 and then hand it over to Morton on an annual basis, allowing the club to work with a guaranteed budget rather than crossing our fingers every month and hoping for the best? I understand that that doesn't necessarily help in the short term and we'd have to do without this season, but in the long run, it would be a far more prudent approach. Discussions and negotiations between MCT and Golden Casket are ongoing. This scenario has been raised in the negotiations. As the negotiations are subject to a non-disclosure agreement, we are very limited in what details we can release currently. Hopefully we will reach an agreement with GC and we will communicate any developments in a timely manner. You fear for the future? Are you of the mindset that the club could die under the current ownership? While I can only speak for myself here, I believe the role of MCT is to plan for every possible outcome surrounding the future of the club. So MCT will own the shares 'gifted' in return for the monthly contribution. Pledgers won't own them. So pledgers aren't investing in Morton at all...they are simply providing the funds to allow MCT (presumably its directors?) to become shareholders? The shares will be gifted from Golden Casket to MCT and the shares will be in MCT's name. No individuals will be named as shareholders through MCT, everything will be collective. While we do have a loose structural organisation, MCT is built entirely upon voluntary efforts from the Leadership Team and others. We have no directors and as I've mentioned above, nobody is going to be named as an individual shareholder. Thanks, Dean.
Malt
What happens if someone buys Morton and wants to purchase MCT shares. Where would the money go if someone offered a cash sum for 15%?

Stevie Aitken's Love Child
Pledgers received an email a few days ago, advising that talks were still ongoing with the board/golden casket regarding the agreement needed to go forward. You'd have to think that the due date of the 1st of August to make the first payment will definitely be in doubt now given that is only 2 weeks away. Things have definitely gone a little quiet of late.

MCT Team
Funny that, a guy introduced himself to me on Tuesday at Cappielow as a Director of MCT and offered to help with any questions I had. <_> Since the last update, to meet legal requirements for registration as a company, we have now named two directors of MCT; Graham McLennan and Gordon Ritchie. I'd like to reiterate that this does not change anything financially, or the structure of MCT. Both are volunteers and will continue as such. Thanks, Dean. MCT Team
To give a brief update on the project; while we cannot go into details due to the non-disclosure agreement, we are closing in. We are now registered as a company and our week by week objectives for July have been met. By next week we aim to have some very positive developments that we will communicate in due course. Keep your eyes across our social channels next week and we will, of course, post all developments on the Forum! Thanks, Dean.

Can You tell us what your initial plans would consist of once you are formally and legally set up to start achieving your objectives? For instance, will you have any influence over the need for urgent new players such as a competent goalkeeper?

Yes, it would be entirely reasonable for a member driven fans organisation to hand over money to the club, but only on the condition the manager uses it to sign a player in a position the majority of members of that organisation have voted for. Why don’t we go the whole way and just do away with a manager or any other coaching staff, we could just sign a squad and select the team each week through a fans vote? You have no understanding of how this scheme is supposed to operate. Mr Toon
You have no understanding of how this scheme is supposed to operate. As someone who has pledged the problem at the moment is that there remains a real lack of clarity as to how the scheme is supposed to operate. As the situation develops it seems to become more complex rather than more straightforward.
Mr Toon
you can still chuck it lol You are right that the pledges are an indication of commitment. However I am prepared to follow through with it if the working relationship between GC and MCT can be made clear and more importantly clearly able to fulfil on the principal motive which is to improve the quality of the players we are able to bring in. Anyone who has experience of working in an organisation which receives funding from another will be well aware of the difficulty of hypothecation and since the MCT initiative is developing just as the GC commitment is diminishing that difficulty might be well nigh an impossibility. We will see if what comes out over the next couple of weeks clarifies matters.

Mr Toon
The implication is that only a fucking idiot would think it's a legitimate question. Any manager who would allow a fans' group, however well intentioned to interfere in the signing of players would clearly be unsuitable for the job. So 'Yes', it is daft question.
