Calling it a dreadful result is obviously ridiculous: no win can ever be called a dreadful result. What would be a reasonable comment is that it was a poor performance and we won in spite of it. Rather than playing well, showing our quality throughout and struggling to break down a defensive side, we just didn't show any quality, didn't look like scoring or even look like we had a game plan or any idea of how to break them down, with the goal coming from a second ball dropping in the right place at the edge of the box rather than any incisive attacking play.

You can and should take the positive that we've still ground out the win despite the disappointing performance, while also appreciating the negative that we won't beat anyone else in the division playing like that, particularly while Duffy persists with 4-3-3 and Quitongo out wide.

While obviously we are capable of quality attacking play at times - the St Mirren and Dunfermline games show us that - we aren't scoring enough and we routinely run out of ideas against stuffy teams, as failing to score v Dumbarton, Livingston (twice) & Falkirk and only scoring one v ICT & Brechin shows. Grinding out the win is good, but the game still provided little reason to believe our problems are solved and that'll we'll be capable of improving on the mediocre results we've had so far.

Much of that is correct but the strange thing is that we certainly have more potential goal scorers in the team than for much of last year. Quitongo (missed so much through injury) , McHugh and Thomson.

Where we are missing out so far is that Forbes isn't yet firing on all cylinders and O'Ware has yet to regain his accuracy in the opponent's box.

They have each had numerous chances that they would probably have put away last season. Maybe confidence allied to the opposition being alive to the threat.

As I've said previously I think we have a stronger squad but we need more from Doyle and in particular Russell in an attacking sense.

And we need more mobility in the midfield, someone who offers width, arguably another option at CB and competition for Gaston. I agree we appear to have more options up front but as a team it is too often Groundhog Day. If we have unspent budget why is Duffy reluctant to address these issues?

Just caught up with the highlights. Going by our footage we were very comfortable and deserved the win. The goal was fortuitous but to go away from home and leave with 3 points and a clean sheet is a good days work.

There's a storm on the horizon

I’d like to see us sign a winger with pace to offer a credible threat to Forbes. Also a rb/cb. Kilday situation reminiscent of pepper( hope it’s not the same outcome

I think we need two wingers tbh as we do not have any. The teams that are playing with Wingers are scoring a barrel load (Dunfermline, St Mirren  . . . ) We also have not replaced Jamie Lindsay in the middle of the part and like above, we really need a credible Centre Back as if Lamie or O'Ware are out then god help us if Barr comes back into the starting 11.

What is the update with Kilday? I thought he was back doing some light training?!?!

We really need to look at that area as we are very light and one injury away from a major crisis.

Add to that, O'Ware is entering the final months of his contract so a club could test us in the Window with a small fee for him.

Use that budget Duffy!

What became of Ireland? I only saw him play once and he seemed comfortable and capable.

Iredale is on loan at QP.

He is very much untested at this level. He has been getting good reviews playing for Thornton/Salty's favoured team but if we have ambitions of reaching the play off's again, I don't know if he is at that level.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt, given Salty's constant wanking over his "Lad" Jon Scullion, who has found his level.

TIME FOR CHANGE!

There's quite clearly not going to be room in this much-vaunted 'budget to spare' for the two wingers, quality central midfielder and centre back that you're all shrieking for at the moment. Duffy will need to make hard choices if he is to even get one quality addition to the squad, which is not guaranteed outside of a transfer window.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

As of November 14th, Denmark pumped them and their World Cup dream died.

Add some competition at full back to that list and it becomes even more optimistic.

I'd prioritise RB and wide midfield.
