LargsTON
I thought this post from Moniton deserved it's own thread. It really speaks for itself. Enjoy. I have always felt we are lucky to have someone like Duffy in charge. While half wits wanted him gone for winning a title which then intensified after exiting a completely irrelevant cup competition, he was meticulously planning a squad which would compete in this division which seemed to bypass the Duffy haters.Top reputation in the game, outstanding man management skills, key motivator and nation wide contacts throughout the game.Should he do the unthinkable and get us promoted (from the play offs realistically) he would undoubtedly go down as the best manager in our history. Now I'm as delighted as anyone that Duffy has started the season so brightly. Perhaps I and others were wrong to suggest that retaining so many players was a fatal error as they really seem to have kicked on and I can't recall ever seeing a Morton side with such a fantastic work ethic and team spirit. Credit to Duffy and the players for that. However the parts highlighted deserve special attention. "CORNBEEF IS A BELLEND"

The duff now has us dreaming of the play offs which would give us a shot at getting to a division fully THREE divisions higher than you expect us to be playing. Three full divisions higher than you predicted. That must be some kind of record. In addition, your sources told us that the Duff wouldn't see past June and you would have no-one tell you otherwise. Another Gerry McNee attempt at telling strangers on a message board you have some kind of inside dressing room familiarity. Give it a rest. I predicted relegation last year yes but this was before we signed McManus, Peaso, Caldwell, Tidser, swapped Barrowman for Forbes etc. That's old ground though so I'm not going over it again. We stumbled over the line largely thanks to Dece. At least I had the baws to post my opinion on a public forum, it left me open to ridicule and cost me £50. I correctly predicted relegation the previous season so I have a 50/50 record in the past two years. However, with potentially the "greatest manager in our history" currently steering the ship I've no such concerns this year. As for the bit in bold, calm down ffs. You're almost hysterical and you'll look like a bigger buffoon than you're trying to make me look if it all unravels. Now the last bit; Duffy WAS close to being given the bullet. You can choose to believe that if you like, it makes no difference to me. "CORNBEEF IS A BELLEND"

There's one aspect of your posts that make me suspicious that you're more than just an average fan. Just about every post you make appears to be defending Duffy and I can't recall you ever posting anything critical of him. You have to at least attempt to see both sides of the argument and be objective. Indeed, according to you Duffy was "meticulously building a squad" whilst we were being dumped out the SC in one of the most embarrassing results in our proud history. That's just fannytalk and does you no favours other than making you look like a myopic, Duffy fluffer. And btw - a "completely irrelevant cup competiton." Really? AyrshireTon
"The Best manager in our history" - perhaps if you're 4 years old, yes. Otherwise, until he wins us the Scottish Cup or takes us to the top of the top flight, we'll keep his name off the ballot paper. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. Moniton
A feat managed by other s***e Morton managers in the past. So if he gets us consecutive promotions, not forgetting the journey he has taken and the squad he inherited, you would see him as sh1ite. It's all about opinions I suppose. Reminds me of the good old days when Dave McPherson's boy joined the messageboard under an alias only to out himself defending the indefensible! My favourite was receiving PMs from a member of Stevie Masterton's family several months after he left Morton demanding I stop my 'bile' because I pointed out he'd had a rubbish game for Crawley in a televised game where he was subbed after 50 minutes. Anyway, this is absolutely a case of getting carried away. If we were to get to the playoffs Duffy would have done an outrageously good job, but we're only five games into the season and there's really no reason to believe we're capable of doing that. Positivity on how we've played so far is great, but let's wait until we're at the very least through the first quarter before we start deciding the whole season's definitely going to be good. It's all about opinions I suppose. You're missing the point. We've been promoted to the top flight before by poor managers carried by strong teams. The jury is still out on Duffy (made a pig's ear of what should have been a straightforward promotion last season AND had us lose to Spartans), and as others have said, we're only five games into the season. The old 'missing the point' routine. Won a league that Dunfermline were expected to skate and most on here gave us no chance. Hardly a pigs ear. So we are now a strong team and Duffy has nothing to do with this? These players were utter pub players and not fit to wear the jersey not that long ago. How can he win.
