Irons and Rae have one trait in common at least: rampant egotism. 'Put success down to me and me alone, put failure down to others'.

I've said it before that the criticism of Rae's interference in team matters (and most other criticism of Rae) is justified, but it would surely take the most restrained owner in footballing history not to question, for example, Irons' decision to play an 18-old-goalkeeper, with an almost geriatric retired player on the bench, in a cup tie against Killie when you have (whatever you may think of Colin Stewart) a fit, experienced keeper, on a full-time wage, who Irons signed little over 12 months earlier, out in the cold.

Stewart was injured. As was Cuthbert. In any case, did Ryan not have a decent game that day?

You're right. My recollection was that Stewart was still out in the cold (as he had been the previous season), but looking back he did have a fractured finger.

I'll let Irons off with that one then! 😜

Look at her riding pillions on Davy’s sea-bike, carrying an apoplectic macaw in a silver hoop. Oh, Morton, let’s go there this winter!  Or learning the Japanese chinchona from that Kobe group, in a dress that looks like a blowtorch rising from one knee, and which should sell big in Texas. Morton, is that real fire? Happy, happy little girl!

As for Collins and Grady, they were his selections so no point whining about being let down and betrayed by the snakes he gave a berth to.

James Grady returned to Cappielow in the summer, just weeks before Irons's dismissal; I'm very sceptical about a claim that Irons sanctioned that deal, rather than the chairman.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct VT but Irons brought him in as a loan the previous season and thus to the ear of our esteemed emperor.

He wasn't sacked. He was released when his contract ended.

during the supporters tournament that he'd given up his free time to manage one of the teams during

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

Can't really see how Rae would benefit from commenting. Most people will already have an opinion on his style of 'leadership' and Irons tears and snotters epitaph says as much about him as it does Rae.

Davie Irons was paying a large element of players 4 figure sums. Many in the £1000-1400 mark. 2 goalkeeper rumoured to get 4 figure sums, one player on £2000 and we were heading for relegation under him when we were spending wages that were likely greater than some SPL teams.

He should look at himself before criticising others.

Irons is yesterdays man. Wouldn't waste the effort in replying

As opposed to an octogenarian sweetie merchant who, as chairman of this once-proud club, has overseen unprecedented first-team successes, an innovative commercial strategy and with such a glowing reference from one of his ex-employees.

Evidence for all of these figures please,

No surprise the Rae apologists are circling the wagon.  Irons is indeed yesterdays man , Rae is the current problem and these comments should be ringing alarm bells.  Nothing we never knew already of course but some see fit to defend the man no matter what.

Rae will kill Morton.

FWIW I do believe that Irons was spending vast sums on somewhat mediocre players.

Quite how this exonerates Rae - the man who hired him and gave him a budget - is beyond me, but then again I don't have my head up his arse.

I know for a fact that we were paying the wages quoted above, having been told first hand.

However, the problem here and the common denominator in all of our problems is Rae. He was stupid enough to give irons that kind of Money and lets be honest: who's he to knock it back.

There's no excuse for Raes mistakes.

TIME FOR CHANGE!
