Wikipedia is still accessible if javascript is disabled (which I can only assume that EanieMeany is aware of, given that there are links to Wikipedia in the above post).

As for SOPS/PIPA - idiotic.

Yep, although those two pages are still accessible, the mobile versions still work too.

Ah, cool. Have had javascript disabled most of the day. It's amazing how much I use Wikipedia.

Legislation of this type will (for the most part) only hurt the wrong people.

You can just press esc on the keyboard before the page loads as well.

I can see where artists/film studios, etc are coming from. A blockbuster film costs millions to make and downloading illegal copies of it is theft. Ditto, how does a musician get paid if his work is downloaded for nothing?

On the other hand, as I understand it, a site can be shut down just because a copyright holder complains - he does not have to prove anything. Companies like Visa, Mastercard and Paypal are all American and they will ditch sites where there is the slightest hint of a problem to protect themselves.

The legislation goes too far and in pursuing a legitimate concern, is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It opens the door for government and big business to censor pretty much anything they don't like!

I read an article in which someone said "It's like taking action against Ford because someone robbed a bank driving a Mustang," which pretty much sums it up for me. There's an argument about protecting IP for sure, but I've also seen smaller, independent record labels complaining about these acts too, and I'd imagine they have more to lose from "theft" than some mob making a film that rakes in millions of dollars at the box office. The idea of US companies being able to patrol the internet and demand websites be closed down with impunity is downright absurd and offensive to any notion of freedom too, surely this is no different to the likes of Iran, China etc and their internet censorship?

As I understand it, if someone posted a link to a football stream on this messageboard, someone or other could demand the entire board be shut down, no questions asked. It's utterly ludicrous, thankfully Barack Obama seems to agree too.

No it isn't. Next you'll be telling us that it funds terrorism, like the laughable adverts claim.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

What would you call it?

A breach of copyright.
