Sight lines in the stand are poor, only slightly better than the new Meadowbank. I know most won’t have visited that since renovation, but trust me, it’s shite. At K Park, I used to always stand in the area between the stand and pavilion, before they made it a dead area because it obstructed the view of those in the stand. You’ll see from the highlights that it was busy yesterday, which suggests that a big crowd plays havoc with ground regulations. It’s a good half hour walk from the train and bus station, but easily accessible by road, and parking is plentiful, given that it’s located inside the Country Park, the town’s main (only) tourist attraction. Parking is available outside the park, which is good as otherwise it’s a tiny one-way access road, but it’s okay for boozers with two social clubs in the vicinity. There’s talk that a ground will be flung up at Langlands, another out-of-town plastic monstrosity in the Broadwood or Forthbank ilk, in no time at all should they make it up, funded by the Kean brothers (East Kilbride’s Easdales) with guys working round the clock to get it ready, but I can’t see K Park not hosting League Two football for at least part of next season if they make it. Ironically, there’s a very well run amateur club building a £1 million stadium in the town just now, right beside the train station and in walking distance of all a football fan would want. I can see them eventually joining the West of Scotland League at some point, possibly at the expense of EK Thistle, who I don’t see lasting much longer. It was an enjoyable enough game, setting up an intriguing second leg. I’m not sure how I feel about EK coming up- they’ve rubbed folk up the wrong way, and Kennedy and Ferry aren’t popular with those outside the club, but I spoke to an old school friend yesterday who told me how good Kennedy is with their young fans, and specifically his boy, taking them on the team bus to away games etc. The B-Team voting is the massive black mark against their name, but they didn’t step on anyone’s toes to get into the Lowland, despite being a relatively new club, and I don’t see them as doing much different from what Raith are doing, and receiving plaudits for. A case of one rule for a club that’s part of Scottish football’s fabric, and another for newcomers? I prefer a new team to come up every year as that’s the whole point of the pyramid, but Stranraer will be a club I’d be sad to see go- a great day out with some good and not-so-good memories. From a Morton perspective, as well as Thomson, who was crap, Thomas Orr got the first half for Stranraer and did very little before coming off at the break. Peter Weatherson on the Stranraer coaching staff was looking well and Jai Quitongo, who I predicted the other day on P&B would sign for EK, was in the crowd, although he is from these parts. I haven’t been been at K Park for about 9 years (an EK Milan cup fixture. Crowd of 2). Hadn’t realised they’d added the section behind the goal. Guess the plan to have a new stadium up in time for the season starting will be a single stand, ‘phase 1’ sort of deal? The last plans I looked at were for a continuous single tier bowl and there’s surely no way that could be completed in the close season.

I think we’re very much in “I’ll see it before I believe it” territory. I don’t know much about the Kean brothers- they’re a bit lower profile than the Easdales, and I don’t partake in any local curtain-twitching pages on social media. I’ve not seen anything about a continuous bowl- the last plans I saw were something like Caledonian Stadium in Inverness and Almondvale in Livingston (below) so I’d imagine there would be a phased construction. If I were them, I’d look at Forthbank, while trying to bring the stands slightly closer to the pitch. As I said the other day, the location looks crap, too. As far as I know it’s at Langlands, to the south of the town, so the pin shows what I’d think will be the most likely location. I know you stay round about these parts too, so you might know better than me. There’s a guy who posted an update on the stadium plans on their thread n Pie and Bovril, but it was mostly Kennedy’s ramblings.
Pedrodelawasp
Thanks for that @Toby I’ve just looked up the images I was thinking of and noticed they’re from 2016, so the plan has changed a fair bit! Agree that the location is less than ideal. Strathaven, Kelvin and Greenhills Roads have been improved over the last few years to better cope with the heavy goods vehicle traffic, so should cope with moderate football traffic, but public links would need attention. I went to school with one of Kean family, but haven’t spoken to him in over 20 years. Big guy, nicknamed ‘Hammer’ since around Primary 5! Know nothing about their businesses, besides them having an office building and a development near Hairmyres. Here’s a couple of the old pics, showing two possible configurations: Edited May 16 by Pedrodelawasp

Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. What did he actually do again because I don't recall any bad blood apart from a few weird takes on the guy from this forum. Who was the last Morton player who went on to play at the standard he has? 1

Who was the last Morton player who went on to play at the standard he has? It is alleged - and I believe it, for what it's worth - that he refused to play because he wanted to force a move to Ostersund. Players are within their rights to want what's best for their career but outright not lining up for the club you signed for is utter scumbag behavior. Barrie McKay wouldd be the other one of recent years to play at the top level, but of course he was on loan.

If he's wanting to leave and not wanting to play pre season games or a League Cup match it's hardly the end of the world. We also profited from his move to Malmo if I'm correct. There's plenty of other players who are fondly loved/remembered by fans who did a lot worse and didn't provided the club with much else. Bachirou is one of the most talented players to ever play in the blue and white, never mind just this century.
