Pretty astonished at that, but good luck to him.

I'm far from astonished. A couple of years ago he was getting interest from better clubs than Falkirk and with his ability may well again in future. I hope we have if possible negotiated a percentage of any sell on.

He's been given a 6 month deal so they clearly view him as an Adam Coakley type signing rather than their star summer signing. Hope he does well though and manages to win a longer deal if he can get back to his old form.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

'Record Sport understands the Greenock club are not due any compensation for the 22-year-old, after his original contract offer was withdrawn by the club.'

Record sport have claimed they understand a lot of things over the years and almost always they don't.

Unless Mark Russell or Falkirk have it in explicit writing stating that 'Morton are not due compensation and will not seek any', Morton are free to stake their claim.

Nope, hope he crashes and burns along with everyone else at that horrible club.

Nothing against him, but him doing well and Falkirk are not in our best interests.

When Russell was winning club PotY awards in our first season back at this level, fans would have been astonished by him only getting a six month deal at a team like Falkirk this far on. The potential is there. If he's actually treated like a left back, he puts the effort in and is given some good guidance, then there's no reason why he can't be a success.

Correct. It could go either way but if he can get his confidence back and a good run in the team in his ideal position, maybe he'll get his mojo back.

I share your opinion of Record Sport and was reporting for the interest of those on the forum what they had written particularly since there has been quite a bit of debate on the subject previously.

Hopefully the club will issue a statement in due course giving us the facts of the matter.

Agree with the above, no reason Russell can’t get back to the level he was once at under the right manager. Shame he’s had such a fall from that goal against Dunfermline and looking excellent away at Easter Road, but he’s still young enough to get his career back on track. Wish the boy well, but Falkirk can do one.

Hopefully Falkirk are due us compensation but haven't realised and are forced to give us £100k for a player they've only signed on a 6 month contract.

Was a team like Dundee Utd not forced to pay a large compensation sum for a player a few years ago and the guy had already turned out to be absolutely awful for them by the time they were forced to pay?

You're not thinking about Charlie Telfer's move from Rangers by any chance are you?
