HMS Willow Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The rule that I used to be aware of is, that a postponed game had to be played in the 1st available midweek after postponement, which in this case seems to have been adhered to. Some sing of Celtic, Rangers And some of Motherwell Of Hibs and Partick Thistle And other teams as well But of all the famous football teams There’s one that they’ve forgotten With a Ra Ra Ra and a Cha Cha Cha IT’S THE FAMOUS GREENOCK MORTON
vikingTON Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 The rule that I used to be aware of is, that a postponed game had to be played in the 1st available midweek after postponement, which in this case seems to have been adhered to. Whether that rule exists or not it has never been applied to postponements from December to March. Given the lack of consideration as ever for the fans I was suprised they didn't choose Christmas Day itself. Ah but that's a Saturday of course. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Being someone who is in possession of the facts from just last season, yes I do: http://greenockmortonfc.blogspot.com/2010/...escheduled.html Last Friday, Morton's First Division fixture against Ross County was postponed due to a frozen pitch. And although there has been no formal announcement, the fixture list on gmfc.net confirms that the match has been rearranged and will now be played on Tuesday 13 April 2010 Dated 26 February The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. vikingTON Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Or this: http://greenockmortonfc.blogspot.com/2010/...ed-matches.html The SFL have announced new dates for the three home matches that we had postponed over the last couple of months. Given the lack of consideration as ever for the fans I was suprised they didn't choose Christmas Day itself. Ah but that's a Saturday of course. VT you said the bit in bold, which indicates the rule of playing the 1st available midweek was never ever applied. Your examples are rearranged games from last season. vikingTON Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 VT you said the bit in bold, which indicates the rule of playing the 1st available midweek was never ever applied. Your examples are rearranged games from last season. Point being? there is clear and lengthy precedent here that postponements in winter (Dec-Jan-Feb) carry over to march. Therefore, the clubs and/or SFL were bound by no rule in setting the date of this to 14th December. Because if they were, last season's rearranged games would have gone ahead in January-February, not March. pink_panther Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 91.5 All League Championship games which are either postponed or abandoned shall, except as hereinafter stated, be played in the second midweek following the date of postponement or abandonment unless prevented by drawn, postponed or abandoned Scottish Cup ties, or other valid reasons in which case they shall be played not later than Thursday in the earliest available succeeding midweek unless the two Clubs concerned wish to proceed on a mutually agreed earlier date. Postponed or abandoned League Championship games shall not be re-scheduled between the Saturday before Christmas and the second Saturday in February unless the two Clubs concerned wish to do so on a mutually agreed date within this period or, where there is no such mutual agreement, with the consent of the Board on the application of either club. The Home club must inform the officials of any postponement.

So, so close. Being a 20yr old you will obviously know that much better than me. Owned Along the track the train came puffin, Morton 1 Celtic nuffin.
standman Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I'm not getting the McGraw reference either. During McGraws time the RC was a reserve tournament, don't even remember it being on every year. Up until 10 years ago the stats in the programme and on the Morton websites of the time still had us ahead, so if anything it's our recent record that's let us down. There was a tournament every year throughout the 80's and 90's except 1994. St Mirren didn't enter for some years after 1991 and Morton didn't enter in the late 90's until 2003 Let's rock !
