The Bewilderedbeast Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Was in Smiths yesterday and they have half & half Morton/C****c scarfs for sale at a tenner. What self respecting fans of any team outside the OF would want this draped around their necks. While I like Smiths as a shop and the owners have previously been very good to me (in terms of sponsorship) I hope thet they are left with them and have to donate them to some war torn part of the world to keep the locals warm. These things are OK when you are playing a GOOD team or someone unusual, even producing a few half & half scarfs with Morton and the Italian side who be far better.
IainMorton Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Would they be doing this if it was Rangers we were playing? Hmmm...
The Bewilderedbeast Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Would they be doing this if it was Rangers we were playing? Hmmm... That would be just as bad
Dom_Dom Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 What a total over-reaction. Some people might want a something to remember the game by. : )
forza ton Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 What a total over-reaction. Some people might want a something to remember the game by. why on earth would they want that though? can you not remember a game without a scarf? if morton have ok'ed this it's one of the worst things rae has done. over reaction **** all.
Queen of Sheba Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 What a total over-reaction. Some people might want a something to remember the game by. I don't think so. Going by people's reaction on here, i think they have jumped the gun a bit. Isn't it a lovely day.....
puggsy_ton Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Would make it easier for Celtic fans to wear their colours in the Morton end I guess
The Bewilderedbeast Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 What a total over-reaction. Some people might want a something to remember the game by. Buy a programme then
garymcc1874 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I, too, don't see the problem. Sure most fans on here and true Ton fans won't buy them but if you don't think these will sell well in GREENOCK then I suggest thinking again. The more money being made the better. TTG JIM!!!
ThornTON Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 People will buy them, not the usual 'Ton fans, but those going as a one-off. If we make some money out of it, I don't see what the problem is with it.
standman Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 The problem for me is that I don't want Morton associated with the Old Firm. End of. Let's rock !

Dont see the attraction for 'ton fans (obviously) but maybe the local Celtic fans will go for it and a few bob will be made. Why don't you invest in a couple as they might be collectors items in the future ? OK, maybe not (but some mad ebay-er might snap up a few) While I wouldny be seen deid in one , I think you are getting yer knickers in a twist about nothing. A disgrace ? I dont think so. Guest capitanus Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 They are cringeworthy to say the least. However, there are no shortage of people in Greenock who are "Sellick" men who also claim to be Morton supporters, so there is a market for them. A few years back, whenever Rangers played Ayr United in the League Cup final there was loads of these around, which suited many of the intolerable inbred duck eggs from that part of the world. If we make some money out of it, I don't see what the problem is with it. I'm not sure we will as I don't think they're officially licensed Morton merchandise. I haven't seen one properly, but I don't think they have either teams club crest. Twitter - JMitchell82

You can see the point of that though as Ayr United reach a major Cup Final. We would do the same if we played in a major Cup Final, no matter who it was against! But in the 4th round of a cup competition?!
