Colkitto Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 More of an observation than anything else. But I have noticed the decline in popularity of the Union Flag. Recently Eddie Izzard ran marathons the length and breadth of britain. In all of his photo's he is holding the individual flags of the Nations of the UK rather than the Union flag which would have represented them all. And more recently we have Ben Fogle and Olympic gold medal-winning rower James Cracknell in their "Ride of britain" Times, it seems, they are a changin..... Don't blame me I voted Yes!!!! - We tried to tell you !!!!!

Alibi Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 The UJ still burns well if doused in lighter fluid... "Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it."
Colkitto Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 The UJ still burns well if doused in lighter fluid... It certainly does Alibi Maybe they have none left .... Don't blame me I voted Yes!!!! - We tried to tell you !!!!!
Rhubarb Mess Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I like to see a picture of Iain Grey and Jim Murphy in our papers with one, similar to their recent Saltire flag bearing. I wonder if they would be interested in a pose, surely such staunch Unionists as these 2 would have no issue with that appearing in Scottish newspapers. We are a MEAN diddy team!!! Murphy is doing a Q&A in the Scotsman next week. I have asked that very question ! Wonder if he will be asked it ? Don't blame me I voted Yes!!!! - We tried to tell you !!!!!

puggsy_ton Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Widdya mean ? I just mean it can be quite easy to pick certain pictures to back-up an argument. You may be right, it could be dying out. I'm just saying a couple of pictures isn't really proof.
Ghost Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Dying out or not, its never bothered me in the slightest.
gmfc_stinny_gmfc Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 The Union Jack doesnt bother me anymore....i quite like it now lol. Ive got a few things with union jacks on them like trainers and t shirts now. Rhubarb Mess Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 ODying out or not, its never bothered me in the slightest. I am truly shocked by that statement. Here is a link to a nice tshirt with the Union Jack flag on it http://www.fightshop.com/TAPOUT---WOLFSLAI...oduct-1962.html I love it too, it’s associated with fear, distrust, racial undertones and the ignorant. Long may the flag fly high. Even the English don't want to be associated with it anymore. Rule Britannia, Britannia Rules F*ck All. We are a MEAN diddy team!!! I'm just saying a couple of pictures isn't really proof. Well it's not just the 2 pictures. Even the English are flying their own flag now from public offices etc. The English football fans gave up on the UJ in the 90's as well. And you only have to look about you here in Scotland, even Edinburgh has more saltires flying than the UJ ! And when the Army moves out of Edinburgh castle in the near future, I'm sure that particular UJ will be taken down and replaced. Don't blame me I voted Yes!!!! - We tried to tell you !!!!!

Colkitto Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 Wont happen I wouldn't be too sure about that, the two Scottish-based brigades in 2 Division of the Army — 51 Brigade at Stirling and 52 Brigade divided between Redford and Edinburgh Castle — will be reduced to one. The divisional HQ, at Craigiehall in Edinburgh, will be abandoned. The Stirling-based brigade is expected to move to Redford, with 52 Brigade disappearing altogether. Many senior officers believe that the Army may soon be saying a last goodbye to the castle. It is run and administered not by the Army but by Historic Scotland, the Scottish Executive agency that looks after many historic sites. Said one retired officer : “Historic Scotland have always wanted to get the Army out of the Castle. They may soon be achieving their dearest wish.†Don't blame me I voted Yes!!!! - We tried to tell you !!!!!
