nani
I think we would all have been pleased with 7 pts from our first 3 games particularly given our injury situation. I think that Mcinally and the coaching staff should take immense credit for the start in terms of putting out a formation in the last 3 games (Livi game included) which have made us hard to score against and have gleaned 3 clean sheets. However the obvious glaring deficiency is up front and in my opinion we need two strikers. We have had 5 competitive games and no goals from our recognised strikers albeit it would be unfair to criticise Linn given his injury and lack of action. However as yet he is unproven and the same can be said for Coakley and Graham....I know that Big Temps has many supporters on this forum and I am the first to concede that his work rate has improved......however as I have stated before he is simply not good enough at this level and he will not score many goals plus I feel his lack of mobility is a serious hindrance to our attack. Clearly we have tried to sign a no. of forwards....McGowan, Sturm, Twigg, Sutton, Brighton etc etc without success for one reason or another. However it is hard to believe that with at least £80k at our disposal we cant pick up up a couple of decent forwards. Given that the only teams to have spent hard cash in Scotland are the Old Firm, or so I believe, you would imagine that many teams would be happy to accept our money. We have just under 2 weeks left in the window and I sincerely hope that two forwards are added in that period. I realise people think we need a midfield enforcer but I feel the one area we are seriously short in is up front.....we have many players who can play in the middle of the park....so come on dougie...get us a couple of goalscorers and who knows...we may have a memorable season! GiGi
we need two strikers. Correct but we already have Templeman, Linn, Graham, Coakley and Weatherson who can play there. We could raise money for a transfer by letting 2 of them go as not all are good enough and we know it. Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'
HMS Willow
Is there any point in buying another striker when JM persists with ONE upfront ?? Some sing of Celtic, Rangers And some of Motherwell Of Hibs and Partick Thistle And other teams as well But of all the famous football teams There’s one that they’ve forgotten With a Ra Ra Ra and a Cha Cha Cha IT’S THE FAMOUS GREENOCK MORTON
GiGi
Is there any point in buying another striker when JM persists with ONE upfront ?? Who would you have him play alongside Templeman? The others clearly aren't up to 1st division standard - neither is Sanny on finishing - so a wide midfield to support is his way of getting crosses in and support up there. It doesn't work but it's really all we have available just now. Why spend 15k on a striker in January, only to leave him languishing on the bench whilst playing one up front in August? The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. Even if one or more come through and are outstanding, we really need a proven out`n`out goal scorer. as for the last few seasons we have struggled with (no offence intended) young boys and defenders to drag us out of the 2nd division. this is simply just not good enough in this league. IMO sell temps and buy or use temps as part of a swap deal, cant have passengers this season !!!

Think your being slightly unfair on Temps. He is not the mould of striker that can play up front by himself (very few are IMO) A lot of people on here say he can't cut it in this division, coz he struggled with Brechin. Brechin were absolute tripe and any striker would struggle to score when they get no service and get pumped 4-0 every week. IMO i think we can only really judge Temps once he has a settled strike partner. "He's not the messiah........He's a very naughty boy!.............Now P*ss Off!" vikingTON
Sounds like a 'when'. It's more like an 'if' <_> Didn't he play in a more than settlted partnership with McGowan last season? In the 2nd division. And his goals tally wasn't too impressive. He's a good link up player, but he's a luxury, and sometimes, we can't afford luxury. <_> The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. Guest GibbyTON
Was hacked off that wee Bobby never got a look in today, got the impression that JM knew we wouldnt score coming close to the end of the game and was happy with a point. I wasnt happy with a point but some will be. Strikers we need yes, but is there any chance we could get a strong midfielder thrown in also

Guest GibbyTON
Why are folk blaming Temps here, he is playing up front on his own, and from what i watched today, anytime he managed to get the ball to him, no f***er came up in support.

He just can't score goals. If he had a prolific strike partner, it could work, but if JM insists on a lone striker then the lone striker has to be lethal in the 18 yard box. Without support ?, dont agree with you there, he had 3 defenders on him every time with no other Ton player around, look at my other post ref support, there wasnt any although as Ham stated that Chris was making good runs up the wing etc. Must admit, his set pieces need looked at
GMC
I'm not a big fan of Templeman but you can't fault him for today. What I would say is that again he had another great chance with his head near the start and messed it up - no power, no accuracy - and that is something he simply must improve on.
