Summer Football?

In reference to the Scottish Sun's excuse to trawl through their Gordon Smith column archives today, the subject

of summer football reared its head.

Any ideas or opinions?

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

He already said just after he was appointed that Summer Football was a thing that'd be a very long time off, if at all, although he liked the idea of it.

Some sing of Celtic, Rangers

And some of Motherwell

Of Hibs and Partick Thistle

And other teams as well

But of all the famous football teams

There’s one that they’ve forgotten

With a Ra Ra Ra and a Cha Cha Cha

IT’S THE FAMOUS GREENOCK MORTON

I know if football had just been invented there is no way that you'd logically play in January and February and ask fans to come out in the most awful weather.

However I feel we are conditioned to having the summer months off and to be honest I like the summer break to persue other interests, go on holidays and soforth.

So logic would dictate that football is played in the best montrhs but people have other fish to fry in those summer months.

Let's rock !

How about the idea of a July break? (extended to June in World Cup/Euro Championship years)?

The thing is football would be competing with too many other summer Sports, whereas not as many take place in the winter.

Spoken like a true politician-rapid learning curve GS!

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then they pretend to befriend you, then you win!

summer football - no way !!! Have you ever watched a game of Italian or Spanish football ?, no-one runs , it's too hot

football is best played outdoors in winter , that way no-one de-hydrates. the goalie also doesnt need to wear a poofy baseball cap to keep the sun out of his eyes and therefore doesnt need to look like one of the pet shop boys.

For spectators it's best also in winter because that's when pies and bovril are best ; and it's good to go and get warmed up in the pub afterwards.

People who would like summer football I suppose must be the same people who ''choose'' to sit in a grandstand in winter and get piles insted of jumping around to keep warm on the terracing.
