Return Of The Cowboy Manager

I never rated him BH-a huge disappointment-are you saying he just didn't try?

I think that's exactly what it was. Came to the club with a decent reputation, and there's no doubting his ability. He just didn't put a shift in for the team and, as BH said, his attitude stank.

McLuskey's track record suggested he had the ability, but we never once saw him have a good game in a Morton shirt. And to think that Collins had the captaincy taken away for that useless b******. Dylan Kerr's the only player I can think of who had a worse attitude than McLuskey.

Does anyone know where he is now?

Honestly Jag, I think that might've been the case. The guy had a superb reputation before he came and, on occasion, I thought he looked the part.

I always thought he had a superiority complex and struggled to motivate himself at what he perceived to be a diddy team.

he certainly made it clear that he thought his team-mates were diddy players. loudly and regularly.

he was terrible for team morale.

the guy below loves the boaby.

Cowboy had us playing some of the best football in years. His downfall was not strengthening in the transfer window. especially midfield where it was too light weight (still is).

He had problems in the dressing room too that didn't help.

I believe he loved his time a Cappielow as I spoke to him on a couple of occaisions and you could feel the enthusiasm from him. Football needs people like Cowboy. I really hope he does well.

Don't blame me I voted Yes!!!! - We tried to tell you !!!!!

Take a look at the coach's corner section of that site:

"Our Captain and team leader Stuart McCluskey, is a huge plus for the club, as he leads the team very well through his experience and natural leadership qualities".

Really? How so?

I don't recall Kerr having a particularly bad attitude. Unless I've missed/forgotten something I thought he was just a bad player by the time he got to Cappielow!

i know who i blame for our collapse in 2004, and it isn't john mccormack. cowboy was a victim of a clique of idiot players and dougie's disastrous loyalty to them. if we'd fired 4 players instead of our manager, we'd have been in the first division long before now.

atrocious record my arse.

Agree completely. I still remember the way he made the players run out individually towards the cowshed before the Peterhead game. Anyone who could make you believe that Gucci could deliver must have some managerial expertise.

Good luck with Albion Rovers.

Tactics against Hamilton away spring to mind.

We had tactics that day?

If I was manager, i wouldnt have had the nerve to stay on.

his time had come.

If he had resigned then, we could still have sorted the mess out and won promotion :(

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Not much point in moaning about what's gone before, we're back in the First now, and that's all that matters ;)

Very true, and i'm sure he'll do well at his new club, and the reasons for our implosion have been well documented and i'd rather not dwell on them (or think about the second half of that season) ever again!!

I do agree with an earlier post about the quality of football we played under cowboy in the 2nd division right enough, a 4 - 0 win away to Arbroath sticks out in particular...

Hardly earth shattering...
