Was anyone watching this? Everything I see about this...organisation only seems to make me want rid of them more.

Fair play to tolerance and everything, but the way this mob are acting makes it very hard to accept them as anything more than a money-grubbing cult.

Which is EXACTLY what they are, but they 'play a percentages game', so they'll always manage to get enough 'gullibles' in to maintain their momentum unless some kind of legislation stops them.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then they pretend to befriend you, then you win!

Nope. We went to Cathedrals in Paris in Primary Seven though, had to sit through a latin Mass too.

Can't be arsed doing a bit of research myself - and I've always been kind of inquisitive but never followed up on it ...... sooo...... can someone give me a potted history on what they're about and what the gig is ?

Oh, and serious answers please ....... I'm in work so a story is better than links .... especially if they're links that will get me fired if I click them

Two Uniteds but the soul is one, as the Busby Babes carry on.

This is just a personal take tid-My (then) girfriend and I were in Edinburgh about 35 years ago-young students and 'wet behind the ears'. We were 'buttonholed' by a pleasant young woman with a clipboard who asked if we'd 'like to have a personality test' to which we agreed 'for a laugh'.

For YEARS afterwards we were bombarded with literature and high pressure to purchase books and tapes. We just kept ignoring them, but they traced us through three addresses before they finally gave up.

I never bothered to read any of the stuff, but it seems to be foisting their own version of 'person centred' therapy on you, in order to make you 'better' and 'more successful', but of course, 'everything at a price'!

They believe we're descended from alien overlords. Seriously.

Alien overlords pop down to earth 200000 years ago, pump a few monkeys, hey presto the human race.

Not that hard to believe...

Who says we're not? Why did humans develop more rapidly up the food chain? Why can Gorillas n that still not light a fire? they've been around as long as we have!!!

Is it so hard to believe that we were planted on earth having evolved for millions of years somewhere else?

Different motives between Scientology and RC Church I suspect.

No. They believe an alien Warlord named Xenu, who ruled a vast Galaxy, shipped a load of alien species to earth as part of a population control scheme.

These aliens were then strapped to the inside of Volcanoes and exploded with Hyrdogen bombs. Their souls then attached to form clusters of "thetans", which then attached themselves to primitive man and cause all negative emotional traits such as depression and anger.

Does the RC Church charge you five grand to make your Communion? No?

Scientology charges you vast amounts of money anytime you want to "advance" in the Church.

my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek here by the way!

Has anyone tried fresh placenta with a sweet chilli sauce? It's a frightening meal!

Nothing wrong with fresh placenta-when I was a junior in Stobhill, the old midwives described how at home deliveries in Springburn, it was regulary fed to 'the dug'. Waste not, want not.

'Broon or rid soce' I'd guess if it required spicing up.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then they pretend to befriend you, then you win!

The scientologists have their view of how it happened and I have mine.

It does, but lets you pay in installments over a lifetime rather than all at once.

I think you'll find that there are no official fees to pay when it comes to most sincere Religious Churches - Catholic, C of E, .etc.

The bulk of collections taken at Mass or Services goes to Charity anyway, the organisations don't gain profit as such. Scientology does.
