SpoonTon
Embarrassing to end up drawing that today. Seems we have a team/manager that severely lack bottle. Very worrying given that we’re absolutely in a relegation battle. Why does Millar keep getting on the park? He was done last season, this season is just humiliating for him. It's more than bottle. We're conceding goals at the same rate as the 13/14 season. Defensively, as a team, we're severely lacking. We've got a rubbish defence which we don't do much to protect. irnbru
Also, it wasn't anything to do with Millar. The manager was screaming at the player to defend at edge of our own box. All it needs when you're so deep is a mistake and the other team are in - them two goals are on Hopkin.

A team should be able to defend a two goal lead over such a short period of time. The second goal is on Nesbitt and McGinty taking silly liberties, at a time when we should have been carefully managing the remaining minutes. We should be able to absorb pressure and find spaces on the break with a two goal lead going into the last 5/10 minutes. We didn't do that. We left ourselves exposed at the back, and we showed again that we have little defensive ability and cohesion as a team.

AyrshireTon
Alloa's highlights. http://youtu.be/RWF5wO1JSQo McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. SpoonTon
It wasn't a short period of time. It was the whole second half. We were always going to conceded with that setup. We came out for the second half with an additional forward on the pitch, and should have added to the lead in the first 15/20 minutes of the second half. We were on the front foot throughout that period. Alloa didn't really look like scoring in the second half until we took a risk, left ourselves exposed at the back, and they did. The Millar/Cadden substitution seemed to work against us. And we offered much less of a threat after that. But we should have been carefully managing that match, not taking chances and committing defenders forward and getting caught on a simple break - which is what happened. We drew that game in large part because we lacked discipline and the ability to properly manage a lead. I'm not talking about sitting back and inviting them on, but we shot ourselves in the foot when we lost our defensive discipline. There was a lack of defensive discipline, defensive ability, and defensive organisation.

There was a lack of defensive discipline, defensive ability, and defensive organisation. Correct. If someone can narrow down Tumilty’s location to a single postcode area for the third goal then that’d be great. The Alloa player having the freedom of the entire right hand side to run through on goal was nothing short of disgraceful and set us up for the inevitable bottle job. Since McGinty has come in we’ve conceded seven goals in three home games against poor opponents: he does nothing well but more importantly provides no leadership or organisation to the back line either. McLean is a very limited player now but that shambles in the last ten minutes yesterday simply does not happen with him in the team instead The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. You mean the same second half in which we took a midfielder off, went 4-2-4 and hit the bar among other chances? We were always going to concede but that had absolutely nothing to do with ‘sitting back’ and everything to do with our John McCormack style setup and John McCormack era dung defenders. Aye, the defenders were poor but when you try to defend the edge of your own box for a half then there's a bugger chance of conceding.
HamCam
What surprises me is that I thought one of the perceived strengths of Hopkin as a manager was his ability to organise a defence - we are a shambles both home and away.
EanieMeany
The defence has been shite from day one both collectively and individually. Hopkin signed them, Hopkin trains them, Hopkin signs two forwards to sit on the bench even after two of the said rubbish individuals left and only signed a guy released by Partick Thistle to replace them. He's bleated and moaned about wanting to bring in new players all the way up to the transfer window, he was duly given more money and he done fuck all with it (again). The blame stops at his door and his alone, individual mistakes or not: his signings, his players, his tactics , his responsibility. AWMSC
vikingTON
The defence was actually doing somewhat better than this before we made a roaring cunt of the transfer window and brought in some haddy that even the worst team in the division didn’t want.
