Morton vs Whoever we're playing

I don't get the abuse for McAlister. Yes he's constantly talking (both encouraging and moaning) but as the captain is that not his job?

In terms of performances I also don't think he's been that bad. He's a totally different player to the one we first had. Not sure if people are expecting him to be that player after all these years?

He's garbage. I'm amazed he's ever made a career at a higher level. Get him to fuck.

Gaston was shocking yesterday hesitated for both the goal and the incident that lead to the red card, it cost us the game he needs dropped. Priority for Jan must be a centre half Kilday is torture, he gets bullied on a regular basis. I'd also like to see McAllister moved on but unfortunately I can't see that happening he's constantly moaning at players him and Tidser spent the 1st 10 mins of the 2nd half arguing, McAllister seems to be causing issues in the changing room with his holier than thou attitude which is not backed up by his own performance. We'd be better off without him, Lyon was the highlight of the day and the other bit of transfer business that's a priority would be a striker that can lead the line.

What did you expect Gaston to do at the red card? There's nothing he could have done there.

He made a mistake at the first goal. He should have anticipated the ball coming through and have been on it. He could and should have preferred that goal. Waddell was a bombscare for both - he cost us massively yesterday.

It didn't occur to me that Gaston made any error at the second goal. That was the defence not marking, as far as I could see.

While Gaston might have been a bit slow to come out, I want to see the highlights before I criticise him.  My impression was that the central defence screwed up, as they did several times during the game.  Sadly Kilday doesn't appear to be able to play centre half any more - gets knocked about all over the place and it's always scary when he has the ball at his feet with opponents coming at him.

We have a lot of deficiencies, but Millar, Tidser and Macallister aren't really the problem. 2 goals scored in the last 6 games (I think) is the problem.  Had we taken chances yesterday we could have won that, but we just have no firepower.

Yeah I've been a big critic of McAlister generally this season and I'd still be in favour of dropping him, but don't see much to criticise for yesterday. He's been flung into a position he's probably never played before, he was fine with the ball at his feet and made a few decent tackles. His positional sense was all over the place, but that's entirely understandable and not something you can blame him for.

Against Partick, assuming Buchanan is able to play, the back 4 picks itself. Choosing between Gaston and Scully is much of a muchness.

Midfield, assuming McAlister, Millar and Tidser start as usual, I would go with Lyon as well with Tiffoney off McHugh.

I realise this will not happen and it will be Thomson and McHugh up top with Telfer the 4th midfielder.

Out of interest, any news when Iredale will be back?

Gaston is still much better than Scully who is awful.

I actually thought McHugh done OK yesterday but the options up front are a bit of a worry.

Kilday seems to get lucky every week with other defenders being injured, suspended, etc. Having a week link like that and Thomson in the team is never going to help win games but with the squad we have there's not many other options.

Gaston does not help his defenders. His decision making is a second behind everyone else, coming off his line, taking a quick bye kick, or a quick throw to a defender to start a move.

Tidser is suspended for Partick game.

I wouldn’t even say Gaston is much better than Andre Boe.

Your meaning Kilday for both as Waddell was sent off yeah? I thought initially Waddell was fouled prior to going for his header but couldn’t really argue with the penalty being given after that.

Kilday has been a total nightmare for as long as I can remember. How the fuck he was made captain under Duffy aswell will forever boggle the mind.

Hopefully a good window can see us rally.

Waddell for both the incidents I mentioned before writing that (the first goal and the red card).

Kilday looks devoid of confidence and like he's playing at less the half the intensity he needs to be. It's like he can't bring himself to stay focused throughout a match. Needless to say he's been a big problem for us for large parts of the season.

Kilday seems to think he's some sort of stylish, Pique-esque type, strolling about without bothering to ever commit himself to anything or win tackles. His entire approach is lackadaisical and half-arsed, absolute waste of a jersey.

This. greenied for having the words 'Kilday' and 'stylish' in the same sentence.

I really like Waddell but yesterday we saw why he has been loaned out. George Oakley bullied him from the start until he was sent off. Oakley fouled him five times or at least he was penalised five times, getting a warning after his fourth foul and a yellow card after his fifth. He could easily have had a red for an elbow about three minutes later and I agree that he fouled Waddell again in the lead up to what was in the end a clear penalty.

Waddell will learn how to sort out players like that but yesterday it was a man against a boy.

Robertson obviously took Oakley off before he got a second yellow.

Kilday has been very poor pretty much all season and in my opinion it's only because of a very imbalanced squad that he is getting a game at all. His headed clearances are almost always to our opponents' playmakers.

I thought yesterday we started very well and were unlucky not to be ahead before they scored, and down to ten men again did well and could easily have come away with a point.

Two or three good signings, or two and a really fit Denny (will that ever happen?) and we could be a really good team.

McAlister puts in a power of work on and off the ball every game and he is supposed to moan/encourage/lead and that's what he does.

The manager actually set us up properly at the start of the game (451) and we were by far the better team until Gatson, who looks about 3 stone heavier, took a week to come off his line. We were then dreadful until we brought on Tiffoney and Lyon, who both should be starting. Tiffoney especially has been grossly under used.

Criticism of JJ for this particular result isnt really warranted. The system was right apart from the personel and it was individual errors that cost us. Although he did bizarrely elect to play 2 up top against 10 men for a spell. That was mental.

I want a pretentious signature too.

No he doesn't. He floats about in between defence and midfield contributing the square root of fuck all. Hopeless. I'm sick to the back teeth of folk defending this guy.

Not surprising since you were extremely unenthusiastic about his coming back to us and have criticised him on a weekly basis almost it seems irrespective of his performance.

It's all about opinions, is it not?
