I didn’t rate McKay because he’s a bellend with a stinking attitude. It was clear there was a decent player in him but didn’t show enough of it and wasn’t up for a relegation battle. Contributed to one of the worst results in our club’s history.

As did Bachirou.

Depends how you define making it at Rangers. At Morton, Raith, Rangers and Forest he displayed/displays ability in fits and starts - the other constant is he divided/divides opinion.

Being nearly ever-present in their first Premiership season before securing a signing to a (presumably) richer club where he also is a regular starter and semi-regular goalscorer.

But some fans don't like it that he doesn't launch into sliding tackles every 15 seconds so he must be rubbish.

Yes. You can't beat McKay with that stick just because you didn't like him, just a few posts after praising Bachirou.

Do you also hold that grudge against Tam O'Ware, Mark Russell, Dougie Imrie, Stuart Findlay?

Fred at least contributed to the club over a few seasons and during his playing time, his attitude couldn’t be questioned. Like I said, I’m not sure what went on exactly when he left and I’m aware he came crawling back to the club for a second spell after not being able to find a club. O’Ware was a promising looking player and played ok for the most part whenever called upon that season. Stuart Findlay came from the other half of the OF but had a considerably better attitude than McKay which I guess is why I’ve never seen a bad word said of him during his time with us. Mark Russell was raw and very young when he came in and again showed promise at that point and Imrie did ok given he was surrounded by shite for the season, although IIRC he also had an attitude problem/fell out with Moore a couple of times?

Maybe I’m being a bit too harsh on McKay compared to others that played in that game, but he came to us and couldn’t have tried any less than he did throughout his time here. I’m maybe looking at the others more lightly as you couldn’t question their commitment throughout their time on the pitch for us.

BM clearly has ability but his style of play will never appeal to all especially the guts and glory supporter. I hope (for Scotland's sake) he develops his game and becomes more consistent - time will tell. Regardless though I struggle to like the lad - he played for Rangers, he clearly thought he was better than his surroundings, he chucked it too often and as for his haircuts.

McKay was the type of loan player than you're never going to get the best out of as the club loaning the player. He just wasn't in it 100%. That was made clear at both Raith and Morton. What wasnt clear was whether he had the intensity required or not - he has since shown that he does (I was surprised to see him as a player who would chase down balls that looked like lost causes). I'm not convinced he'll ever move up a level but he's a much better player than he performed out on loan - and I'm of opinion that this was down to the intensity not being there out on loan (which isn't uncommon for loan players).

McKay wasn't up for the physical contact aspects of the game when he played with us and pulled up at the first sign of a hard tackle. However his ability on the ball was never in doubt; we just didn't see enough of it.

Was it ****.

Nobody has a 100% track record at spotting players but I really question the judgement of anyone who watched McKay play and didn't think he had a future at a high level.

McKay showed nothing to suggest he would make it. Did he not end up at Raith Rovers on loan after us?

He looked like he didn't want to be here and mix it up with players in our league.

I suspect his indifference was because he felt he was playing below his level - sad to say but he was probably right.

McKay had bags of ability but never thought he had to put in work to make that ability useful. Once he got a bit of success at Rangers he went back to that attitude which is why a lot of Rangers fans have the same opinion as us.
