Biģotry against Catholics is not racism. It iscreligious bigotry. Any one of any race can be catholic, and can even change to or from that religion. You can't change race. Anyway, everyone is in the human race - the differences are just differences in evoluion over millions of years.

I am well aware that the term 'Catholic' means universal. I am also well aware that the term 'Protestant' means someone who is in a state of protest. In the case of people with 'Protestant Faith' they are people with strong Christian beliefs who are under protest against the Catholic Church. By and large, several hundred years on since the era of King Henry VIII; and reformists like John Calvin, Martin Luther & John Knox; people of faith from the various Christian denominations have much more in common with each other nowadays than there is to divide them.

In this country, one of the biggest pejorative terms used to describe people of Irish Catholic ancestry is 'Fenian' and it a term that is used commonplace throughout Scottish Football. In fact it's omnipresent. In a day like today, in Scotland more people on a football park will be called a 'Fenian Bstrd' as a result of their work on a football pitch than any others will receive any kind of abuse for being African, Asian, Gypsy or any other racial group. And Rangers aren't even playing today. Go figure.

I thought Joe Jordan was wrong as I typed it. He would have been very tall for an old-fashioned winger.

I’m not sure why but in that era it was common for clubs to have a small right winger and a tall left winger. In our case Harper/Wilson on right and Jordan/Bartram on left. Celtic had Johnstone on right and Yogi Hughes on left, Rangers had Henderson and Persson etc. Hibs, Hearts etc. Had similar.

Rikki Lamie in a Livingston side who are currently leading 1-0 against 10-man Celtic.

Edit - 2-0 now.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Some lovely reading on the Raith v Snake XI thread on P&B, mostly from around 4.30pm on Saturday onwards.

Dont think they rate Tidser much anymore and they are universally wanting their snake manager punted.

Pleasing.

And in which former Morton player Michael Miller scored the goal that put Raith on the comeback trail.

5:01 for the Miller goal
5:56 for the Tidser foul, which really was awful and should have been a red

From Somerset to the Luzhniki. Fair play to him, his rise has been incredible. I doubt he has what it takes to mix it up with teams like Russia, but he's there on merit. Can't be much worse than Burke.

David Irons continues a remarkable turnaround at Stenhousemuir by papping 'Irish Premier League' side Waterford out of the cup with a last minute winner. Scott McLaughlin also got on the scoresheet with *sucks air sharply through teeth* an excellent free kick.

Four games unbeaten by reverting to direct, cynical football and shelling the opposition with set pieces. What a manager.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

What's cynical football?

A style designed to win football games in the most brutally effective manner possible, including (but not exclusive to) the following traits:

- filling your team with six foot plus hammer throwers

- playing high balls for them to dominate the opposition with brute force

- deliberately injuring your own players playing for corners and (long) throw-ins, to capitalise on the above advantages

Its polar opposite being of course the 'philosophy of football' nonsense being taught at Largs and which various, two-bob Guardiolas have tried and spectacularly failed to implement in the Scottish lower leagues (see Caldwell, G.; Johannsson, J; Grady, J. etc.).

You can have that but I think I'll pass.

If agricultural football got us to the Premiership, everyone would love it. Entertaining, attacking football is great to watch as a neutral, and of course the ideal way to win, but at the end of the day it's a results business.
