I know calling them central midfielders is up for debate with some of these but they had to be put somewhere.

Not included: Allan Jenkins, Michael Tidser (I know, but we're voting on ability rather than snaking), Fouad Bachirou, Martin Hardie, Ross Forbes, Jamie Lindsay, Andy Murdoch plus a few jobbers

McFarlane, McAlister, Paartalu, Lyon, Millar, Telfer, Colville and Jacobs: congratulations, you did not get a vote.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Robertson and Dykes are obviously the standouts, but there are about 10 equally credible candidates for being the third worst. It's an appalling list.

Derek Young was much worse than Darren. He was going through the motions, and would have rather have been anywhere else (I would have rathered he was anywhere else as well). He deserves a place.

Robertson is the worst by a distance. Dykes, Blues, and Fraser are other stand outs in a horrible list, with 7 or 8 others just behind.

Gary Fraser, David Roberson and Darren Young.

All absolutely honking, despite coming to us with plenty Premiership apperances.

I'll give McGeough, Dykes and Blues a pass since they were at least expected to be dung.

We've had some cracking center mids over the decade. But also some stinkers. I didn't even include Blues in the end because in my limited experience watching him he's not utterly disgraced the jersey in the way that some others have.

I'd completely forgotten that Gary Fraser played for us, but I went back and looked at his games and was all too eager to include him after that.

I think I went to three or four games Robertson played in, and put it this way: the fact that he looked like he was running through treacle was the least of his worries. He was a bit of a midfield Ryan Harding in that he'd look the part when passing, except the pass would go out for a throw-in and then you'd get the panic when he had no idea where he was supposed to be. Just awful. You could see why he made it in the pro game, but awful.

I think it's a given that, even when picking this team, we acknowledge that none of these guys signed or picked themselves. And while many of them will indeed have been bellends, many of them will not. (He won't make the XI but Davie MacGregor is an example of this - very limited player in a lot of respects, but gave 100% in training and in games, never shirked blame, and was a true club servant.) That anyone gets included is not a judgment of either their history or their character; rather it just reflects the fact that they were mung.

As such, how can you not include Dykes?

He stays around the corner from me, I see him jogging past my flat regularly. He's a player that got a poor start to his career, as he was a youngster when Hugh Scott was running the club into the ground, then was released when the club went into administration. He showed promise early on, then he broke his leg in the 2001/2 season and never fully recovered from that. As former players go, I wouldn't fault him for the same reasons that you mentioned, he was an honest pro at this level and stuck around for 90% of his career. I'm surprised that he never got a testimonial, surely he was more deserving of one than Derek Collins.

I don't think I ever actually seen him play tbh. I made the decision to not watch one more of JJ's shitey team in about February thankfully.

Sorry had to change that, Paartalu was dreadful.

Paartalu was not a particularly talented football but was effective sitting in front of the defence in Sir David Irons' magnificent team of six foot four hammer throwers. A definite upgrade on Jim McInally's odious lovechild Scott McLaughlin in that role. Everybody bitched and whined about his long throws at the time as well but you need to look no further than the highlights of the Firhill game to discover that they were in fact very effective.

He was essentially a beta, non-mental version of Martin Hardie, which is why he's kept a professional career going for nearly fifteen years instead of joining the Central Scotland Herbalife sales team like half of the dung players on this poll.

He even managed to get capped for Australia, definitely undeserving of a place on this list.
