In which the Community Trust, COMPLETELY and TOTALLY separate from the club and may God strike one down for even THINKING there is anything other than a West Bank barrier between the two, was started by Warren Hawke in his capacity as Morton CEO.

Stopped reading this mini-Pravda after that.

Naw it wisnae. Cmdc will correct me if I'm wrong but he started the Trust while still a consultant at GMFC, becoming chief exec of the Trust. He stood down from the Trust position after getting the gig at Cappielow as it was a conflict of interest.

Yeah, that's right. He stayed on in a limited consulting role - mainly a mentoring type role for the new chief executive of the Community Trust that would reduce over time - but he had little if any input into the day to day business of the Community Trust after becoming CEO of the football club.

Hence, "in which".

I think this is something the club need to be vary of. Although he isn't held in as high esteem by Rangers* fans as Johansson is, I don't want to see MacKinnon talking about Rangers and Davie Cooper at every opportunity.

Other than that, I thought he spoke well about Morton and raising standards.

Given the context of the interview, I don't think the Rangers stuff was too much- he discussed the likes of Alan Ball and Pat Rice as much as he did Davie Cooper for example. It was an all encompassing interview that covered his career as a whole and gave plenty of time to his ambitions for Morton.

The media are often justifiably criticised for fawning over former Rangers or Celtic bit-part players' tenuous links to either club, but in this case, his time at all his clubs was covered relatively fairly.

I'm sure you'll not agree with this but I think Hawke done a decent job up until a point.

He's started off the youth academy, community trust, got a bit more structure off the park, started doing bits and pieces around the stadium (hospitality changes, cosmetic changes, pie stalls, etc) and highlighted we can't keep spending what we can't afford.

The problem (apart from him not getting on with fans and being a bit salesman like with promises) was that he never actually saw a lot of it through to completion so hopefully McKinnon can do that.

To put it into a bit more context, McKinnon has taken the hospitality plans and made them happen rather than talking about them and hoping for praise.

For me, Hawke would have been better as a consultant like he was at first where he'd come up with ideas and some strategy and leave it to others to actually run with.

I know people will have different options and try to deride the point about the examples I've gave (the pie stall is a good choice for that) but basically I think he had good ideas but wasn't the person to follow through with them (see turnstiles for a perfect example of that).

And probably the quicker answer to your question is that he seems more personable than Hawke and a lot more positive so for the face of the club, it is better.

Looking forward to seeing how everything pans out.

On your point about not getting along with the fans, something you haven't noted is his relationship with the staff at Cappielow, specifically the non-playing staff. We've heard whispers that his relationship with Raymond was one of the catalysts for his departure, and I'd be interested to see the turnover of non-playing staff throughout Hawke's tenure. Of course the departures of Johansson and Houston were welcome developments, but were poorly handled by the club, and on a day that Hawke was "off sick". He also managed to take a holiday that coincided with the club's AGM in April 2018.

That lack of leadership and ability to take responsibility is Hawke's legacy for me. When the shit hit that fan he was nowhere to be seen. An absolute chancer.

On another note, I've heard from two different people, both strangers who are employed by Browning's Bakers, that we'll be using them for our catering for next season. The first was a guy I met in Brussels at the Scotlnd game and the second a guy I was talking to in a pub in Glasgow before heading to Annan the other day. They, of course are well renowned for producing the original Killie Pie, so that can only be seen as a positive for McKinnon.

Hawke was and probably still is a gormless moron. These are the facts.

A total self preservationist whom i can only presume charmed many, including yourself, into believing he was a credible CEO.

He drove a wedge between the fans even more so than already existed.

Whilst I did say I was impressed by him approaching folk at the game the other night, one thing I'm not sure about is his knowledge of just how ingrained the mistrust and cynicism towards the club is amongst the support, and maybe neither are all of us.

I remember reading Jim McInally saying en-route to winning the league in 2007 that he wanted to rid that from the club, but to be honest I don't think we ever have got rid of it. It's been there since the collapse of 2004 and will take an awful lot of work to finally get rid of it.

When he said the other week that he felt the support had been won back I couldn't help but think that he didn't have a clue about the bigger picture there. He's made an encouraging start, and certainly appears to be a massive upgrade on that tit Hawke, but winning the unequivocal trust of the support is a job that will take years- it's not something that'll be done over a summer. Perhaps he feels that by being a lot more honest than Hawke will do that, but Hawke was only one of many people down the years who have let the club and fans down. Best of luck to him in doing that, though.

Can't quote, Toby, but i get what you're saying. I guess that unless you're as entrenched in the club as us you wouldnt really know just how much of a wedge exists between club and fans. Ill give him the benefit of the doubt, however i hope be doesnt have to find out just how bad it js. Hopefully he continues to make strides where Hawke failed. Ie in just about everything.

TIME FOR CHANGE!

Well I met Dave today while renewing my season ticket and I thought he was really welcoming, wanted to chat, asked me if I could drive because of the draw at the first home game.

Although I was burned by this when I met the snake last year.

Im making perfect sense, your just not keeping up.

The prize just seems like a load of nonsense tbh, if you have to insure and road tax it yourself. Nobody is going to bother taking up the offer if they already have their own taxed and insured car.

I'm surprised that the club haven't arranged an alternative prize for those who can't drive or are under 18.

If the winner doesn't accept the prize after reading the T&Cs, the club and Arnold Clarks are going to look a bit silly.

That’s what I was thinking, for example, if I was the winner, it’s really of no use to me whatsoever. I have a bigger and better car than that on offer, no way am I going to park that up for a year and having paid my insurance for it annually I’d actually be ou5 of pocket.

My wife also has a car and in the same position as me, so, unless there was a cash alternative or, and alternative prize what am I going to do with this Car?

I'm probably the exception rather than the rule, but I'm at the latter stages of my driving lessons and hope to pass my test soon. I've not looked into buying a car yet as I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I'd be delighted if I was fortunate enough to win it.

I’d you can afford to insure it and road tax it, you can afford to eat in a modestly priced restaurant.

Only for those who think that Rangers didn't exist before the Souness/Smith 9-in-a-row era.

Dave McKinnon was a big name in a previous era when Rangers were shite.

You’re exactly the person who should get it then, good luck
